This is a list of words and shortened terms specific to Nikke, gacha games, and games in general. If you come across a word you don’t know, search for its definition this page.
20s | 20 seconds, or 20 second cooldown burst |
40s | 40 seconds, or 40 second cooldown burst |
60s | 60 seconds, or 60 second cooldown burst |
Alteisen | An Interception boss that appears in Interception D and SP Interception. Also appears in other stages. Also called Train. |
Alter | A different version of an existing unit. For example, Rupee: Winter Shopper is an alter of Rupee. Alter units are often called “alter [original unit name]”. |
Anne | Anne: Miracle Fairy |
AOE | Area of Affect. Applies to an area, or multiple targets. Antonym of ST. |
AR | Assault Rifle |
Arena | The Arena is the PvP game mode. |
Auto | Auto mode where AI controls all your units. |
Awoo | Liter. Also called grandma. |
B | Burst |
B1 | Burst 1, or units that are burst 1 type |
B2 | Burst 2, or units that are burst 2 type |
B3 | Burst 3, or units that are burst 3 type |
Balls | Large round projectiles launched by certain enemies that can deal significant damage. Also called meatballs. |
Banner | Specific types of recruitment that have different rates. Currently the different types of banners are: the regular/standard/wish list banner, special/rate up banner, the limited/event/rate up banner, and the new commander/paid gem/guaranteed ssr banner. |
Blacksmith | A SP Interception boss. Also appears in other stages. |
Blue | Being above recommend CP and not receiving a stat penalty. |
BP | Battle Power. (CP in game) The assessed power of a character or team as shown in game. |
CC | Crowd Control. Ability that prevents enemies from moving and/or attacking. |
CDR | Cooldown Reduction. Reduces cooldown of burst. (Liter, Dolla, Volume) |
Chatterbox | A SP Interception boss. Also appears in other stages. |
Circle | Interruption circle. Interruption circles must be damaged to detroy them and interrupt a boss’ powerful attack. Also called red circle. |
Combat Power (CP) | Combat Power (sometimes called BP) The assessed power of a character or team as shown in game. |
Core | An enemy rapture’s core (red orb near the centre of a rapture), or core dust (rare material used to upgrade units every 20 levels). |
Core Hit | Hits on an enemy rapture’s core. Core hit numbers are light red (non crit) or dark red (crit) in game. |
Crit | Critical hit, critical damage or critical rate. Critical hit numbers are orange in game. |
(CP) Deficit | Being under the recommended CP, which incurs a stat penalty. See the CP Deficit page for more details. |
Dolphin | A player that spends a small amount of money on a gacha game. |
DPS | Damage Per Second, or units that deal high amounts of damage per second. |
DoT | Damage over Time. Also frequently called poison. DoT effects are a status or debuff that are applied to enemies to deal damage over time. |
Dupe | Duplicate, or spare bodies. When an additional copy of a unit is acquired, you can limit break or core up that unit to make it more powerful. |
Early (Game) | Chapters 1~10 in Campaign Mode, levels 1~120, equipment tiers 1~6 (unable to full clear Interception S) |
F2P | Free to play. A F2P player does not spend any money on the game. A F2P unit is a unit that can be acquired for free without pulling from the gacha. |
Farter | Bronchus. A rapture that deals AoE damage to all units over time, hitting through cover. |
FBM | Full Burst Mode. After reaching B3, your squad enters FBM, where they receive a damage bonus buff and focus fire on your target in manual, or the same target in auto. |
Gacha | Games like Nikke where the aim is to collect different characters by acquiring them from random means (recruits, summons, pulls, rolls). |
Gear | Equipment and Harmony Cubes |
Grandma | Liter. Also called awoo. |
Gravedigger | An Interception boss that appears in Interception S and SP Interception. Also appears in other stages. Sometimes called worm. |
High Investment | Typically refers to when a unit is at or above: skill levels 5, bond levels 20, and MLB or with core ups. |
Hit Rate | Accuracy. Increased hit rate reduces bullet spread, reducing misses, and increases the probability that the unit will land core hits. Affects: SG, SMG, AR, MG. Does not affect: SR, RL. |
HP Potency | Healing Efficiency. Increased HP Potency increases the amount of healing received. |
I-Frame | I-frames are moments where unit(s) are invulnerable to damage. In Nikke, is possible to i-frame damage by going into cover just before damage lands. |
Interception (Intercept) | The Interception is a daily boss battle game mode that rewards equipment. Also called Intercept. |
Interruption Circle | Interruption circles must be damaged to detroy them and interrupt a boss’ powerful attack. Also called red circle or simply circle. |
Late (Game) | Chapters 16+ in Campaign Mode, levels 161+, equipment tiers 8~10 (Special Interception unlocked) |
(X)LB | To limit break with duplicates, or describing a unit that has been limit broken X number of times. |
Limited | When a unit that will no longer be acquirable after a limited time, or such a unit. |
Loli | An underage female anime character. Often used to refer to Liter as she looks young despite being old. |
Low Investment | Typically refers to when a unit is at or below: skill levels 4, bond levels 10, and no core ups. |
Manual | Manual mode where you control your main unit. |
Meatballs | Large round projectiles launched by certain enemies that can deal significant damage. Also called balls. |
Meta | When units, teams, builds, etc become popular because they are BiS or otherwise strong. |
MG | Machine-gun |
Missiles | Long projectiles launched by certain enemies that can deal significant damage. Can also refer to missile launcher boss parts that launch these projectiles. |
Max HP Bug | A bug that causes some units to be able to heal on max HP increase skills. Refer to the bug guide for more details. |
Mid (Game) | Chapters 11~16, levels 121~160, equipment tiers 7~9 (Interception S full clear) |
MLB | Max Limit Break; to limit break with duplicates to 2 stars for SR units and 3 stars for SSR, or describing a unit that has reached max limit break. |
Modernia | Can refer to either the character Modernia, or the SP Interception boss Modernia (also appears in other stages). |
P1 | Position 1 as shown in battle preparation screen. Left-most slot. Also called Slot 1. |
P2 | Position 2 as shown in battle preparation screen. Second slot from the left. Also called Slot 2. |
P3 | Position 3 as shown in battle preparation screen. Middle slot. Also called Slot 3. |
P4 | Position 4 as shown in battle preparation screen. Second slot from the right. Also called Slot 4. |
P5 | Position 5 as shown in battle preparation screen. Right-most slot. Also called Slot 5. |
(Boss) Part | Also called Weak Points. Bosses have multiple body parts with separate HP bars that can be destroyed to prevent specific attacks or force the boss into the next phase. Destroying a part deals additional damage. Parts can regenerate. |
Pierce | Pierce is a mechanic where projectiles go through the target to hit targets behind it. It is pierce can hit through: raptures, boss parts, shields, cover. The units with pierce are: Harran, Alice, Laplace, Snow White, Maxwell, Neve. |
(SP Arena) Points | SP Arena Points are rewarded based on your SP Arena Battle Rank, and determine your SP Arena Point Rank. SP Arena Season Rewards are rewarded based on your Point Rank and are used to determine whether you qualify for Championship Arena. |
Pull | Recruit, or a recruitment. Also called summon or roll. |
Rate Up | When a unit has a higher rate of being pulled than is normal, or a banner with such. Rate up banners will end after a limited time. |
Red | CP deficit, or being under recommended CP and receiving a stat penalty. |
Red Circle | Interruption circle. Interruption circles must be damaged to destroy them and interrupt a boss’ powerful attack. Also simply called circle. |
RL | Rocket Launcher |
RoF | Rate of fire. Attack speed. |
Roll | Recruit, or a recruitment. Also called summon or pull. |
Rotation | The time and process from charging the burst gauge bar to full, using burst 1, burst 2, burst 3, entering full burst mode, dealing damage, and exiting full burst mode. After the first rotation ends, you enter the second rotation, and so on. |

Scarran | Scarlet and Harran. The most popular B3 DPS units. |
SG | Shotgun |
Shadow Scaling | Also called CP deficit, power deficit, or simply deficit. When battling with CP under the recommended value, you receive a stat debuff that increases the further you are under recommended CP. See the CP Deficit page for more details. |
Shielder | Bulwark. A rapture that creates a shield to block attacks. |
SMG | Submachine-gun |
SP Arena | Special Arena |
SP Interception (Intercept) | Special Individual Interception. Also called Special Intercept. |
(Charge) Spam | By only charging a charge shot to low charge %, a player can quickly spam through many charge shots. This is most notably used on energy supports to quickly fill the burst gauge bar, as energy gain is the same at 1% charge and 350% charge. It is also a strategy to charge to ~100% on SR DPS, as that usually results in higher DPS than full charge shots (most notably used for Alice (Without burst) and Harran). |
SR | Sniper Rifle |
ST | Single Target. Only applies to one target. Antonym of AOE. |
Stunner | Sentry. A rapture that suppresses units for a period of time. The suppression ends early when the rapture is killed. (This is technically not a stun) |
Sub | The fifth unit in a team. The sub either does not use their burst, only uses their burst every other rotation, or only uses their burst at key moments in manual play (or is xRupee). |
Sub 1 | A burst 1 sub. Notable examples: Rapunzel, Noise, xRupee. |
Sub 2 | A burst 2 sub. Notable examples: Noah, Poli, xAnne. |
Sub 3 | A burst 3 sub: Notable examples: Privaty, Drake, Helm. |
Summon | Recruit, or a recruitment. Also called pull. |
Theory Craft | To theorize new possible strategies using gathered information and calculations. |
Train | Alteisen |
Unit | Nikke. Playable, collectable gacha characters. |
Weak Point | Also called Boss Parts. Bosses have multiple body parts with separate HP bars that can be destroyed to prevent specific attacks or force the boss into the next phase. Destroying a part deals additional damage. Parts can regenerate. |
Whale | A person that spends a significant amount of money on a gacha game. |
Whaling | Spending a significant amount of money on a gacha game, or any amount of money. |
Wish List | The Wish List, or to put a unit on your wish list. |
Worm | Gravedigger |
xAnne | Anne: Miracle Fairy |
xRupee | Rupee: Winter Shopper |
Zombie | Noise, because she is very difficult to kill. |
