Core | Around 17 HP Bar |
1 Summon Port | Around 13 HP Bar |
Moveset
Mother Whale’s moveset rotates from Step 1 to 4 for this stage.
- Launch Massive Missiles.
- Launch Raptures and also generate defensive barrier. Raptures come in 4 waves.
- Hurtle.
- Launch Master-Grade Raptures.
During the second rotation, there is a chance Mother Whale uses Laser Shower when the 2nd wave of Raptures launched.
Launch Massive Missiles
These missiles actually hurt and lowers your DEF, try to clear all of them and cover the remaining ones if needed. Having Modernia and using her burst here helps a lot.
Ultrasonic Wave
Mother Whale emits a wave that buffs summoned raptures ATK AND providing them with hit count HP instead (you have to land enough hits on each rapture to kill them).
Breaking Mother Whale’s core will stop it from using this move.
Launch Raptures
The 2nd most annoying part of this fight. Mother Whale summons a bunch of raptures that are normally very squishy but…combined with Ultrasonic Wave, can heavily damage your team not to mention the hit count HP buff.
A barrier/shield is also generated. With the barrier around, only Electric units are able to damage Mother Whale, not even piercing effects can get past the barrier (Alice, Dorothy attacks and Snow White/Maxwell burst will not go through). Only way to get rid of this barrier is by clearing any remaining raptures on the field.
Fortunately this barrier only activates once, which means you just have to clear first wave of raptures and no more barrier will be seen.
There are 3 ways to deal with the raptures here:
- Use Dorothy. Her Skill 2 and Brand damage from burst is able to ignore the hit count HP. Since the raptures are squishy, Dorothy’s skills will just wipe them out easily.
- Use AOE burst to kill them right when they are spawned, there is a 0.5s-1s duration where the hit count HP isn’t applied.
- Using fast firing rate units (Machine gun) to kill them 1 by 1. Modernia works best here since her burst allows her to hit multiple raptures at once.
Hurtle
Mother Whale begins to charge up and flies towards your team. This move takes at least half of your units HP if it lands, take cover against this move.
Launch Master-Grade Raptures
The most annoying part of the stage, unless you are have enough damage to kill Mother Whale before this move, or dropping its HP low enough so that 1 or 2 units surviving can finish it off.
Mother Whale summons a bunch of raptures that will wipe out 3-4 units on your team even with full cover. These raptures are also very tanky, wiping all of them is near impossible unless way higher CP than stage recommended.
The way to survive this move is to have a taunt unit and/or healing/invincibility, where the taunt unit will soak up most of the damage, allowing the 4 other units to survive. These units will be mentioned in team comp suggestion below.
Note: These raptures will ONLY go away after using their attacks, stunning them and hoping that they will go away after a few seconds does NOT work.
Laser Shower
Used when 2nd wave of Raptures are launched during second rotation.
Tips
- The summon ports I (the ones on top) have least HP compared to the ports II and III. If you need another 13 HP bar of damage, aim at ports I as you can destroy them much quicker.
- Using units with huge damage that Pierces works great here, since you can deal massive damage to 2 or 3 ports at the same time. (Alice, Snow White, Maxwell)
Team Comps
Having at least 1 taunt unit is highly recommended to deal with the master-grade raptures. Having 1 healing unit is also recommended to increase margin of error.
It is possible to just go full DPS if your DPS units are very stacked.

B1 | Dorothy is the best option for this fight (finally not a granny) as she provides CDR and huge part damage buff, which helps greatly since Mother Whale has a ton of parts. Dorothy’s burst and Skill 2 wipes out squishy raptures with ease. Using Dorothy also allows you to not use any machine gun units in the team, which frees up flexibility to add healing or buffers. Note: You have to manual Dorothy’s burst and aim at Mother Whale, the burst can sometimes miss. Liter is the 2nd best option (not that far behind Dorothy), as she provides CDR and huge ATK buff as usual. Only issue is that using Liter requires you to have Modernia in your team to deal with the squishy raptures with hit count HP buff. |
Taunt | Makima is able to taunt the master-grade raptures and survive using her invincibility from Skill 2. A healer is highly recommended if using Makima, since she has to survive for burst rotation. Noah is also able to taunt the master-grade raptures and her burst provides invincibility that allows herself or at least the other units to survive. Another 20s B2 unit with offensive capability is needed if using Noah. Noise provides taunt and her burst provides Max HP buff that increase chances of other units surviving. Note 1 : Noah and Noise dying is fine since you can continue using burst without them. Note 2 : There are clears I saw using Diesel, but I have not personally tested her in this stage. If you have none of the 3 options, giving Diesel a try might work. |
B3 DPS | 2 B3 DPS units are needed for smooth burst rotation every 20s. Top options are Alice, Snow White, Modernia, Maxwell, Scarlet. Notable mention is Laplace if you somehow raised her over Maxwell.. Alice, Snow White, Maxwell do the same thing, dealing huge damage that pierces through multiple parts, which helps you to destroy the Summon Ports fast, or if they are absurdly stack, you can choose to just destroy the core from the beginning. Modernia is the best option to deal with the annoying raptures if you are not using Dorothy, since Modernia is a machine gun unit and her burst allows you to damage multiple raptures at once. Scarlet still deals good damage against Mother Whale, and she can wipe out 1 wave of raptuers if you time her burst correctly. She is also able to get past Mother Whale’s barrier, but that doesn’t quite matter here since you have to get rid of the raptures anyway. |
Flex | Healing options are Rapunzel and Soda, which are used with Makima. It is recommended to just stack up more damage and blow up Mother Whale quicker if you use the other taunt units. B3 flex options are Privaty and any of the B3 DPS mentioned above. You can choose to add 1 of these into the team if using Makima and not have any healing options, or if you want to go the full DPS route. B2 flex options are Guilty, Novel, Rupee and Viper. These units are used when you use Noah or Noise, since you need a B2 unit to form a complete team. |
Just have a high enough power level and it’s ez gg
Dorothy’s skill 2 and burst no longer bypass the hit count HP on summoned raptures, at least on the Solo Raid version of the boss. Her skill 2 and burst both deal 0 damage to all summoned raptures while the Ultrasonic Wave buff is up.
Correction: burst actually does bypass the hit count HP, but skill 2 does not
Skill 2 does bypass, just beated Mother Whale today
Is it true that Laplace true damage skill is ineffective
i killed all raptures but shield is still up and after that mother whale proceed to one shots my team its so frustrating that i didn’t get modernia or dorothy after all this time
Actually, it seems the mobile version has an issue where the screen doesn’t show properly all the raptures, unlike the PC version.
Been stuck here for weeks. Guess I’ll never know what happened to the commander and Johan :'(
aaaand, 2 months later, I’ve defeated it.
I don’t have Dorothy, modernia, or snow white since i’m unlucky, i just can’t seem to be able to pass the boss
complete and utter trash boss, shame to have this in what would otherwise be a great game
I was getting stomped when I tried the stage, read this guide, only did like two things it said, and easily cleared it. Pretty nice.
