Skill 1: Fleetly Fading: Breakthrough
Activates when attacking with Full Charge.
Effect changes according to the number of attack time(s).
Effect of each phase does not stack.
Three times: Affects 1 enemy unit(s)with the lowest DEF.
Deals 250.47% of final ATK as additional damage.
Six times: Affects enemies within attack range.
Deals 500% of final ATK as distributed damage
Nine times: Affects all enemies.
Deals 750.47% of final ATK distributed damage.
Pretty much all her damage. She wants to rotate through these skills as much as possible, which luckily Scarlet black shadow has much lower charge times (0.3s) than the normal Rocket launcher (1.0s).

Every skill proc generates an amount of burst generation, but the amount it gives while accounting for frequency, does not give much. 2 Effects CAN’T occur in the same attack. This means that it’ll cycle through effect 1, then 2, then 3 and loops. Instead of effect 1 cycling every 3 attacks in tandem with other effects.
Note: Effect two and three are distributed damage. This means that if there are multiple enemies, the damage of the effect will be divided as such. Ex: 500% / 3 if there are 3 enemies hit by the skill. Her effect three is the only true “AoE” that hits all enemies on screen.
Skill 2: Fleetly Fading: Asura
Activates when entering Full Burst. Affects self.
Max Ammunition Capacity ▲ 60% for 10 sec.
Reload 100% of the magazine(s).
Simple skill. Increases her uptime during full burst. Her base ammo is 9 compared to the normal 6 found in most rocket launcher Nikkes. Her max ammo buff does not multiply max overload rolls/ammo buffs, but rather just adds to the total buff value if any others are present.
When leveled to 7, the mag will be fully reloaded, accounting for all ammo buffs applied previously (Including Liter, Noir burst and etc). Scarlet does not need to reload once during her burst even without max ammo overload rolls when paired with either Liter/Blanc and Noir duo in any team (at high enough skill levels w/ Bastion cube).
Burst: Fleetly Fading: Strike
Affects self.
Changes Full Charge attack count required for
Skill 1 to 1 time/2 times/3 times for 10 sec.
ATK ▲ 115.12% for 10 sec.
Charge Damage ▲ 150.12% for 10 sec.
One of the best skills in the game in regards to increasing self DPS. The most important parts of the skills are the ATK ▲ and the change of activation procs for skill 1, these two in tandem makes her output massive single target DPS, even more than other heavy hitters such as Modernia.
Scarlet black shadow is HEAVILY reliant on needing to burst to deal damage. Her skill 2 makes sure that she’s able to output consistent damage every full burst with her without needing to micromanage her ammo (Reloading before full burst).
Campaign
Scarlet Black Shadow is proving to be very good in campaign, only beaten by a very few meta teams. Despite having distributed damage, her raw damage output is able to keep up until a certain point (20% CP deficit) without getting punished by enemy attacks when using her burst. However when raptures get too tanky / massive amount of raptures are in the screen, her faults quickly become apparent. Scarlet would not be able to pick off raptures before they’re able to attack, which at these CP deficits, the more dangerous Raptures often or not one shot the players Nikkes.
This can also be said to all Nikkes in general, but the heavy campaign hitters can tip toe around this issue by either dealing strong single target DPS to pick off the more dangerous mobs, have more burst generation, and/or isn’t limited by the distributed damage mechanic. Scarlet has rather terrible splash radius, which is 10x less than a normal rocket launcher (Might as well be a bullet), which means her burst generation suffers and pretty bad off-burst damage.
Despite all this, Scarlet has such immense raw damage output from her burst that she can be actively be in the users campaign team and can carry the user pretty far. Wind weak chapters are pretty much free stage clears for her. As it increases the “cap” on where distributed damage would hinder her damage enough to let raptures attack, especially if she has elemental damage rolls on her equipment. Her introduction to the game makes elemental based teams very viable. In where the user can switch between teams depending on elemental weakness. Instead of using a very general team for every PvE content.
Note: Her distributed damage can be a solution to some boss mechanics, more notably on Motherwhale.
Recommended Teams
Crown Naga Team (highest DPS)
Her absolute best team. Better than School Girls because of the advantages from Crown and Naga, outperforming Tia + Naga. Alice is the key in this team and should almost always be paired with Scarlet due to the very high Charge Speed buffs she gives to highest ATK Nikke. This allowes Scarlets Skill 1 to trigger way more times during Full Burst, essentially boosting her damage by alot.
School Girl Team
Note: Liter substitutes will always either be Volume or Dorothy.
Better than the bunny team due to the fact that Tia’s damage up is persistent throughout her burst. While Blanc’s Damage taken debuff only applies to one rapture wave. Scarlet: black shadow also has enough ammo to have 100% uptime (with bastion cube) throughout the duration of her burst without the assistance of Noir’s ammo increase. Alice is a great support due to reasons stated in her skill 1 section while being a great burst generator. Suitable B3 replacements are Modernia, Red hood, Christmas Ludmilla (Aim heavy), or drunk Scarlet.
Bunny Team
A slight downgrade when compared to the School girl team, however should still do very well. This team helps rather unraised Alice’s to deal a bit more damage because of the max ammo buff. Same B3 replacements for Alice are mentioned in the School Girl Team
Fast Cycle Team
Note: This requires two Cooldown Reduction Nikkes to work.
A team that is worth considering if the school girl team and bunny team isn’t available. This focuses on having Scarlet burst as much as possible, as Isabel reduces full burst timer by 5s. While Modernia does good off burst DPS. Isabel can be replaced with Mihara. Modernia is a bit harder to replace as there is not much Nikkes that can deal good off-burst DPS, but there are a few options. Such options are Scarlet, Christmas Ludmilla, and Guillotine.
Burst generation might be an issue when using this team in normal campaign stages, so Nikkes that are good at burst generation can be nice substitutes instead of off burst DPS’s. Such Nikkes are Alice,Centi,Anis and Red hood.
Arena
In theory, Scarlet Black Shadow should be an absolute beast in PvP. While this is somewhat true due to her raw DPS potential, her burst generation isn’t that great due to the fact that she can only hit one target instead of the normal 2-3 per shot other RL’s do. But it isn’t the worst and is comparable (or even slightly better) than the other heavy hitters of PvP(Scarlet,Alice,Red Hood, Summer Anis, etc).
Scarlet Black Shadow can be countered by Sakura attacking teams if Scarlet is put in defense teams, but all teams can be countered if the player has sufficient PvP knowledge anyways. She also has trouble dealing with Biscuit + Defender Taunt teams due to her distributed damage mechanic. If the main target has Invulnerability, the damage towards the main targets will be “Immune”. This damage will then “distribute”, spreading 0 damage does not fare very well. This negates most of her damage during this period, which more often than not, will result in the players loss.
But as with all meta teams, they can be countered with enough PvP knowledge. Despite these flaws, Scarlet Black Shadow can definitely wipe out 1 out of the 3 opposing teams when attacking correctly due to her immense raw DPS potential if left unchecked.
Team Compositions
Blanc Indom (SP Arena / Rookie)
The idea of this team is that Scarlet will soak most of the damage (Hopefully) for Blanc’s burst to target her. This leads to Scarlet: Black Shadow having 10s of invulnerability, which should be enough time for her to wipe out any team that isn’t running the same set up, Biscuit + Noah team, and Sakura teams.
There are requirements for this team to work, such as Scarlet needing to have lesser durability than the Nikkes she’s damage sharing with (Jackal Skill). Which can make or break this team for certain players. This requirement isn’t too hard to meet as Jackal is a defender, who have higher HP and Def stats than DPS Nikkes. However, Alice might be an issue as she’s also an attacker Nikke, the only difference will be their equipment levels and dupes. This can be fixed by using Noise instead if Alice has the lower base stats of the two.
Bread and Butter Team (Rookie)
The Classic PvP team that is usually run in Rookie Arena. Very hard team to push through due to the AoE wipe immunity and constant healing. This isn’t usually ran in SP arena due to how much meta Nikkes are in this team. Naga can substitute Rapunzel (healing), or burst generators can fill in the her slot instead (Anis and Centi)
Immune Team
Stalls enemy fire as long as possible for Scarlet Black Shadow to deal damage. A somewhat similar idea to Blanc indom team but isn’t held down by the requirements that team has.
Special Interception | Union Raid | Solo Raid
Scarlet: Black Shadow dunks on almost all bosses in Special interception. She deals massive single target damage has a self-contained kit, meaning she can do well with pretty much all teams that allows her to burst when possible. Not to mention that she does not rely on overloaded equipment to showcase her true potential, Scarlet: Black Shadow is one of the best DPS’s when starting Interception EX’s due to her only needing skill investments to do great, second only to Red hood. The only Interception she may have trouble with is Grave digger due to her skill effects not being able to directly break QTE circles.
Since she has massive self attack buffs, similar to normal Scarlet, she still prefers to be in teams that have Attack damage ▲ (Tia, Helm. Not ATK ▲) or damage taken debuffs (Novel, Blanc). Crit based teams can also work on her (Volume, Mast) without gimping her damage too much when compared to using Liter instead.
Team Comps
Team comps that is used in Special Interception, Union Raid, and Solo raid is similar to previously listed campaign teams. Although, I will list still somewhat viable “Meta” Teams for players with incomplete boxes.
Note: Always use Liter if available instead of Volume, Dorothy unless stated otherwise. Other B1’s are listed since Liter is usually the top pick in every meta team anyways.
Crit Team
A very crit based team. Since Both of our DPS’s here do benefit from crit damage, this means their DPS doesn’t suffer too much when missing ATK buffers in the team. Novel can substitute Mast, Christmas Ludmilla can substitute Modernia.
Hyper Carry Scarlet
Similar concept to Crit team, however this team solely focuses on Scarlet’s damage. Crit team is more preferred if possible. Helm can be replaced with Quiry.
Strengths
- Extremely strong Bossing Nikke. Second only to Piercing Nikkes.
- Self-contained kit, can fit in many teams
- Strong in campaign, until certain points.
- Is not Overload gear dependent to unlock most of her potential
- She is the Storm that is Approaching.
- Idle Jiggle.
Weaknesses
- Skill book heavy
- Near 100% Loss rate in 1v1’s (Actual Bozo)
Should You Pull?
Of course, she’s one of the strongest bossing Nikkes around, with versatility on all game modes. She makes a great addition to the Nikke cast as she’s the only strong wind element DPS as of right now. This can greatly help diversify team comps when encountering content that involves wind weakness.
However, there are two Banners as of right now. Modernia re-run. Who should you choose? It all depends on the user preferences on what content they prefer doing. Modernia has the edge in campaign due to her ability to make use of the strongest campaign clearing supports as of now (Tia/Naga). While Scarlet: Black Shadow proves to be more deadly in boss battles and arena. This is by no means saying Modernia is bad in boss battles, or vice versa.

Kinda late but thanks! I guess she needed that much testing for an accurate rating
Icon for Scarlet:BS missing in team section?
Will be fixed within the few hours~
Thanks for the guide!
I understand that there was a lot to test + festivities that probably delayed your work a bit.
Thank you! Now that she’s Valkkin certified it’s time to MLB.
Is there any reason why some characters are rated lower on the tierlist compared to the number given for certain tasks? For example Dorothy has 9.80 on Boss and Modernia has 9.65, yet Modernia is rated higher if you switch to the Boss section. This also happens with XLud 9.65 boss rated higher on bosses than 9.80 Scarlet BS, Liter also 10.00 on Boss and lower than Blanc 9.50.
Nikkes in the same tier are not listed in order
Any review for Mica: Snow Bunny? I’m yet to figure out if she has any use
I’d just like to say I REALLY appreciate the ‘Overload Gear priority’ bit here, with the charge speed. I don’t really ever feel the urge to massively math things out with theorycrafting, so I really appreciate you doing the work for me, and leaving little things like that.
You’ve done it before with breakpoints on skills, like with S.Anis and the ‘If Burst <9" and so on, but this is the first time I've seen just a small, almost offhand mention in the gear requirements part.
Asking me to get perfect rolls, trying to fight RNGeezus and L00tCipher, not so much. RNG and I don't get along. But a single line item to check off? Totally doable! (though I might have to get 4.9% in several different rolls combined.
Thanks!
Always appreciate these guides, makes figuring out skill book and OL gear priority so much easier. Thanks for all the awesome work as always!
If she works so well with Alice, then why her union raid teams don’t have them together? Does Alice need such a different team that they work better separately?
I’ve mentioned that her solo raid/ union raid teams are similar to her campaign teams, as they’re virtually the same.
The teams listed in that section (Special/Union/Solo Raid) are for people with incomplete Nikke Boxes.
if she worth MLB ? asking for a friend
if you’re a dolphin, sure, i can recommend MLB without feeling guilty, she does great in all forms of content and only ever outclassed by the OP pierce Nikkes, and even then, not by too much.
But as F2P, it’s always best to get one copy and move on unless they’re really your waifu and meta.
can maxwell be paired with her too?
Would it be worth going in for more copies of her, or does she do perfectly fine with 1?
going for more copies for her would be good but she honestly dos fine with just one copy
Since the “Should you pull?” section compares SBS and Modernia from her banner a year ago, who between SBS and Rapi: Red Hood would be a better investment for a newish player? (Alice already built for Alice Diary event)
Rapi: Red Hood is the better banner to pull on as a new player. Especially since SBS is already in the standard pool and Rapi sees more use in story.
