Soline: Frost Ticket Analysis – Should You Pull?

All aboard!

Overview

  • B1 Water SG 40s CD Supporter Unit that provides cooldown.
  • Her primary function is to help out allies in a pinch.
  • Lack of DPS buffs makes it hard to justify using her as a primary cooldown unit in PvE content.
  • A more proper CD unit for Tove to partner up with over D: Killer Wife (DKW).
  • Some potential in PvP thanks to her tickets delaying death for allies, especially within the first 6 seconds of combat.
    • Its value is not immediate for general PvP play, as 15% HP is too low a threshold and the subsequent heal is also low at 12% caster HP. Perhaps if more methods of indomitability or damage reduction for the team appeared.

Should You Pull?

If you’re somehow missing any other cooldown unit, or wish to improve solo raid scores ASAP, yes. Otherwise, no. The biggest thing she provides in PvE is cooldown, and not much else. While her kit seems like it can have a good niche in campaign deficit content or PvP, where it could possibly prevent death from repeated fire from either opposing Raptures or Nikkes, the values are just too low to really save anyone on its own.

She has no direct DPS buffs, has a 40s cd cooldown, which limits her team availability, both her heal and main gimmick necessitates Burst usage to occur. She is built more for PvP before PvE content with how her kit functions, but even then, her values are too low to really save people, compared to a similar functioning skill for Defender units, Biscuit’s S2, Tug of War.

While she does have higher DPS compared to DKW when partnered with Tove, and it DOES make an appreciable difference vs Water-weak and Fire-weak, even if Soline lacks the proper DPS OLs, it isn’t enough for most players to justify pulling for her for a boost in raid DPS for specific elements.

The biggest strike against her is that she precedes the Seasonal Winter units. While she will eventually have permanent availability, the incoming Winter units won’t. She should definitely be wishlisted eventually, though it’s definitely on the lower end of priority, even for Elysion. In PvE, she should primarily pair up with Tove, leaving her to only make major appearances in raid content.

Newbie/Incomplete Box Section

Soline: Frost Ticket (SolineFT) is a 40s B1 Water Supporter SG unit that increases max HP, heals, and provides cooldown… that’s it. Her S1 gives allies a way to heal for a burst of their max HP upon approaching death in conjunction with her S2. Her Burst is a big heal and is notably the only way for her to give out more tickets/S1 stacks without outside help.

Basic Information

  • Skill 1: I’ll Check Your Ticket!
  • Skill 2: I’ll Help You Board the Train!
  • Burst: I’ll Get You There Safely!
  • Cooldown: 40s
  • Rarity: SSR
  • Burst: I
  • Weapon: SG
  • Class: Supporter
  • Element: Water
  • Manufacturer: Elysion
  • Squad: Infinity Rail
  • Weapon Name: Cozy Package

So cute!!!

Skill 1: I’ll Check Your Ticket!

Activates at the start of battle or when using Burst Skill
Issues 1 ticket, up to a maximum of 2. Continuous.
Ticket effect: Max HP ▲ number of tickets * 10% of the caster’s Max HP without restoring HP.
Activates when entering Full Burst. Affects all allies.
Cooldown of Burst Skill ▼ 7.48 sec.
Activates when entering Full Burst. Affects all allies.
Removes First Train Discount.

At the start of combat, everyone on the team gets a ticket. Each ticket, up to a maximum of 2, increases max HP by 10% each without healing HP. The only way for SolineFT to increase the number of tickets for the team is if she uses her Burst Skill. The primary function of these tickets will be discussed in the Skill 2 category.

Upon entering Full Burst, Soline reduces the cooldown of all allies by 7.48 seconds. This is one of the highest sources of unconditional cooldown in the game. Soline will also remove the S2 buff ‘First Train Discount’. This will only matter for the first Full Burst of the match, as the First Train Discount buff is intended to be used only for the start of combat.

These tickets are considered regular stacks, and thus, can be obtained through ally skills that give valid allies stacks, such as Pepper’s Burst, Alice: Wonderland Bunny’s S1 or Mica: Snow Buddy’s S2, but not Rupee’s S1, as that only gives stacks to Iron Nikkes, as an example.

Note how both Alice: Wonderland Bunny and Soline: Frost Ticket have two tickets despite Soline not bursting.

Skill 2: I’ll Help You Board the Train!

Activates when the HP of anyone in the squad is lower than 15%.
Affects the target if the target has any tickets.
Recovers 12.27% of caster’s final max HP as HP
Ticket count ▼ 1

Activates at the start of battle. Affects all allies.
First Train Discount for 6 sec.
Function: The effects of I’ll Help You Board the Train! will not consume tickets.

Whenever an ally hits the critical HP threshold, they will consume the ticket granted to them from S1, healing themselves for 12.27% of Soline’s final max HP and then use it.

However, if this were to instead happen within the first 6 seconds of combat, the ticket will not be consumed. This allows it to be used repeatedly within the time frame until Burst Time is entered, which removes this effect due to S1’s final effect, or the 6 second time frame expires.

This gives Soline potential relevance in PvP content, since PvP in general is where such dire combat situations can happen. Even though it lacks true one shot protection, like Biscuit’s Tug of War (S2), the fact that this can activate for the whole team, not just defenders, and has no limitations within the time frame could prove to be incredibly obnoxious to face off against.

Despite this, 15% max HP is just too low a threshold. Damage instances that bypass the threshold completely ignore this mechanic and KO the unit directly. The subsequent heal that is given is also pretty small at ~12% caster’s final HP. While it can have potential with Indomitability or Damage Reduction, there’s currently no method to give it to the team at the start.

I’ll Help You Board the Train

HP Threshold: 15% remaining HP
Heal: 12.27% of caster’s final max HP
Class Limit: None
Activation Limit: None within the first 6 seconds of combat.
Additional Protection: None

Tug of War

HP Threshold: 50% remaining HP
Heal: 23.26% of caster’s final max HP
Class Limit: Defender only
Activation Limit: Twice per combat

Additional Protection: Invulnerability for 5 seconds.

Despite the apparent lack of limitations for SolineFT’s S2 vs Biscuit’s S2, Biscuit’s is just more effective. The significantly higher HP threshold is harder to burn through with regular attacks, the heal is bigger, and while the Defender class and two time limitation seems like a detriment, a lot of defender units that are meta in PvP having a taunt also allows strategic use of the invulnerability that it provides.

While combat in PvP matches tend to be short enough to potentially give Soline’s S2 a lot of use, most matches barely lasting past the first burst time, again, the threshold and heal are just too low, which could be unreliable in actually protecting team members without other additional measures, as the skill itself doesn’t really have any other than repeated activation, which isn’t as reliable as full invulnerability.

Burst: I’ll Get You There Safely!

Cooldown: 40.0S

Affects all allies.
Recovers 32.26% of caster’s final max HP as HP.

Soline heals all allies for a big burst of health, based on her final max HP. It also gives allies S1 stacks. The most basic part of her kit, yet, as it’s the main way to provide tickets to the team, it’s very important to cast for her. For the rest of the team, though, it’s debatable if it’s worth losing out on DPS for even a single Burst Time in PvE content.

Its big burst heal for the team is more valuable within PvP, where combat typically lasts just a few seconds at most, and the heal could make a difference between a victory or a loss.

Campaign

While Soline does have some of the biggest unconditional cooldown reduction, her lack of buffs and being a 40s CD B1 unit that primarily heals relegates her to niche purposes in Campaign. She may have some use in preventing allies from dying prematurely in campaign content at a deficit, though its HP thresholds limit how much the deficit can actually be.

Otherwise, using her as a primary cooldown unit is definitely a last resort. Being a 40s cd unit gets in the way of team composition, as you’ll have to partner her up with a B1, most of the meta ones in campaign having cooldown to offer anyway, making it redundant to use them alongside SolineFT. If your main B1 is a unit that lacks cooldown, such as Red Hood’s B1, MirandaT, there could be valid reason in using SolineFT as the cooldown unit, though this is a big ‘if’.

Arena

Where she’ll potentially have good use. Despite being a standard full reload SG, which has regular burst gen compared to a partial reload SG, her kit can be effective in PvP content. Her burst heal on burst and ability to deny enemies a quick kill at the start of combat with her passives ideally works out.

In reality, the threshold and heals are too weak to protect from very serious damage. Even without the lack of limitations S2 has, its lack of additional protection makes it a lot harder to make great use of the effect.

Were it not for the low threshold and heal, S2 would be a seriously strong effect in PvP. It’s possible a future unit would enable SolineFT S2 to work significantly better. It’s definitely something to keep in mind. As of right now, it’s too unreliable on its own to actually protect anyone in very serious content.

Special Interception | Union Raid | Solo Raid

While she does have cooldown, which is valuable for boss content, especially solo raid, she is definitely a lower priority cooldown unit in general due to her lacking any sort of DPS buffs for allies to make use of. If you have Tove ready, though, Soline will be a reliable cooldown unit for Tove to partner up with.

Despite not providing any DPS up for allies, the amount of DPS SolineFT can deal when buffed up by Tove is big enough to warrant using her over DKW when the team’s main buffer is Tove. Even without any DPS OLs, Tove just gives so much to all SG units, SolineFT included. This will, of course, be drastically improved once SolineFT gets her hands on some OLs to deal DPS with.

Despite not having any DPS buffs to allies, Soline’s better DPS when buffed by Tove results in a team having higher damage overall. While everyone’s damage slightly drops, DKW’s Attack Damage buff from S2 is just so small, that its loss is more than made up for, even if Soline has literally no investment by comparison. (Soline is 10/1/1, DKW is 8/10/9)

Damage against Iron-weak boss in Shooting Range (Element Neutral)

Both have 0 ATK OLs, but Soline literally also has 0 gear, no cube, no doll and 40k lower base ATK and no way to increase her own DPS, while DKW S1 gives her supplemental DPS and reliably hits the boss’ core as a Sniper Rifle. Straight out of the banner with leveled S1 and that’s it. The gap will only increase if SolineFT has actual gear.

Strengths

  • Huge, unconditional cooldown.
  • Can save allies from death, especially at the start of combat.
  • A more proper CD unit for Tove to partner up with over DKW, when bSoda isn’t needed, due to her higher personal damage.
  • Adorable!!

Weaknesses

  • No DPS buffs, making it difficult to justify using her if you don’t need her healing.
  • 40s CD necessitates pairing her up with another B1 unit. Since most of the great ones also provide cooldown, she doesn’t have a place in standard teams if these units are already present.
  • Has standard burst gen, which is a detriment in PvP content.
  • HP threshold and heal provided by S2 is just too low, reducing its value in actually protecting allies.

Recommended Cubes

healing cube,vigor cube

The heals in Soline’s kit are better affected by the Healing Cube over the Vigor Cube, so it should be main cube to use.

In raids alongside Tove, if used in Water-weak content, she should use the cube with the highest level to maximize the DPS she deals to the boss. (Bastion, Resilience)

Doll Priority

Due to her lack of scaling in skills outside of HP, which doll doesn’t benefit from as much, SolineFT’s Doll Priority is Low.

S1 > S2Skill 1 is where her cooldown comes from. Should be prioritized ASAP. It’s also where her max HP gain for the team comes from.

Skill 2 is where her healing mechanic comes from when an ally hits critical HP. If planning to use her in PvP, this should be prioritized.

Burst provides a big burst heal. Its value is big, but not worth maxing out if you’re rarely going to use it. PvP should definitely consider leveling it up more.

  1. W.Soline is a very good example of why synergy with other units are important. FI Tove, Leona and FI Drake all have massive buffs for SG units and just because Soline is a SG with CDR she gets those massive buffs and becomes a pseudo dps even if the rest of her kit isn’t that great.
