Overview
- Above Average DPS
- Buffs the DPS of skills of Asuka: Wille for around 15%~ DPS gains
- Higher burst damage than Scarlet in PvP (by about 20%~)
- Asuka: Wille DOES NOT need to be paired with Rei (Tentative Name)
- Will have trouble destroying parts/QTE circles due to low auto attack damage.
- Can’t be a sub-DPS, damage drops significantly if she does not burst.
Newbie/Incomplete Box Section
Rei doesn’t add much to the Nikke roster in regards to bossing. She deals rather disappointing auto- attack damage and generally has weak supporting capabilities. Her damage is decent and is slightly above Scarlet’s personal DPS, but Scarlet has been phased out of element-neutral content for several Solo Raids.
However, she’s a solid option when using her in Campaign and PvP due to her burst. Rei (Tentative Name) has one of the hardest-hitting AoE non-distributive bursts. This is great for emergency screen clears and screen wipes. Scarlet has a similar function however Rei’s burst is 20%~ stronger than Scarlet’s fully stacked skill 1 burst (% varies a bit in PvE/PvP because of ATK – Def Damage Scaling)
Despite being an MG support, the buffs provided by her are minor and there are better options for mitigating MG wind-up time. Such as reload speed teams or ammo refill.

Normal Attack Information
Assault Rifles have one of the lowest auto attack damage in the game. So they need to either need to have much higher auto attack damage or have skills that massively bumps up their ATK values or have special final ATK damage procs.
Unfortunately, Rei (Tentative Name) has rather average normal ATK damage, and her skill procs just isn’t enough to bring her into the meta for bossing/single target DPS.

Skill 1: Annihilation Support
Activates after landing 18 normal attack(s). Affects the target when the target is in
Anti A.T. Field status.
Deals 590.64% of final ATK as additional damage.
Stack count of Anti A.T. Field ▲ 10.
Activates after landing 7 normal attack(s) when self is in Attack State status.
Affects the target(s).
Deals 286.37% of final ATK as additional damage.
Activates when entering Full Burst. Affects all allies in Annihilation State status.
Units affected by Annihilation State’s additional effect 1 for 9 sec.
Attack range of Annihilation State’s additional effect ▲ 500% for 9 sec.
ATK 17.6% ▲ of caster’s ATK for 9 sec.
Most of Rei’s damage. Her skill procs bring her overall DPS to slightly above Scarlet’s personal DPS or Modernia with no core hits.
A.T field status is Asuka: Wille’s passive and her 590% skill proc will NOT be active if Asuka is not in the team or actively bursting, reducing Rei’s damage by a considerable amount (10%~). Rei’s Increased Anti A.T. Field stacking reduces the stacking time of Asuka’s Passive from 5s to 3s.
Her Annihilation state buffs for Asuka is somewhat useful despite being mostly a range buff. Asuka can apply her Anti A.T field damage taken debuff easier, which can be useful against elite raptures/boss waves but less so against mobs as most mobs will be destroyed before fully stacking A.T field.
Skill 2: Maintenance and Resupply
Activates when entering Full Burst. Affects all allies with a Machine Gun, who used their Burst Skills.
MG heating up speed ▼ 100% for 13 sec.
Activates when entering Full Burst. Affects all allies.
ATK ▲ 11.61% of caster’s ATK for 10 sec.
MG heating up speed refers to the “wind up” time MGs have before reaching max rate of fire (60 per second). This reduces MG wind up speed from 3s~ to 1s~. This is good for MGs pre-overload as they reload much more often. Post-overload, this buff is less impressive due to much higher ammo counts and less reloading/wind up needed.
Unfortunately, this buff only affects MGs who burst during full burst. This means that at most, she can only buff one other burst III MG Nikke.
Furthermore, there is a more effective way to reduce wind-up time and that is to stack reload speed buffs.
Burst: Attack State
Affects self.
Attack State:
Attack Damage ▲ 35.9% for 10 sec.
ATK 63.36% ▲ of caster’s ATK for 10 sec.
Affects all enemies.
Deals 990.2% of final ATK as Burst Skill damage.
Rei’s burst has pretty strong self buffs. All buffs from this skill is applied before Rei’s burst hits her targets. this allows her nuke to hit harder than Scarlet’s AoE nuke by around 20%~.
Most normal mobs and unprotected PvP teams will be taken out by her nuke assuming the CP deficiency isn’t massive.
Campaign
Rei (Tentative Name) shares a similar role to Scarlet in Campaign. She will mostly be used as an emergency screen-wipe when there are too many mobs on screen.
Since she doesn’t have the attribute of distributed damage, her burst will hit every mob on screen without any damage dilution.
Her burst damage normal attack damage is also good and is slightly higher than Modernia’s auto attack damage during Rei’s burst skill which is great for cleaning up left over mobs. However she does little damage outside her own burst and is not recommended to use her as a sub-dps (non burst Nikke)
Rei (Tentative Name) Is basically a better Scarlet when using her in non-specialized teams. However they don’t necessarily compete with each other as they have different elements.
Collab Duo
Rei’s only real specialized team. Simply there to buff Asuka: Wille’s AoE skill range and capabilities. Otherwise she can fit in any team as a AoE screen wipe is universally good in any team that doesn’t have good constant oppressive wave clear (all SS – SSS tier DPSs usually have oppressive constant wave clear)
General Team Support Archetypes
These support units are usually used if the Commander simply doesn’t have gods greatest gift in Campaign (Crown)
Tia’s shields and taunt can save a lot of runs. Despite not having much core damage potential, it is still welcomed to have.
Spam Tia for burst gen.
Blanc is the next supporter in line. the player can opt for using Rouge and blanc + sub-dps (Modernia,Scarlet,Phantom) or simply using Blanc + Noir. Don’t use all three in one team.
Massive ATK buffs and 100% reload speed, enough said.
ATK damage buffs and big burst generation when using MG Nikkes.
Both do similar roles. simply providing more offensive buffs. Mari should be priority to slot in. Do not pair.
If the Commander does not have any of the Nikkes listed above, simply slot a burst gen RL such as Centi or Anis if burst gen is needed. Otherwise use a Nikke with the most CP/preferred buffs.
Arena
Rei (Tentative Name) is a B3 nuker, and is a very similar unit to Quency: Escape Queen, Rei Ayanami (EVA 1.0 version), and other similar nukers. We have seen time and time again how these units can effectively replace Scarlet in several team compositions. The problems associated with them are usually Low Burst Generation (which is still true here), and high rate of feed into Jackal and Scarlet (also true here)..
Read more about Rei’s PvP prowess in our dedicated PvP review for her in the following link: https://nikke.gg/rei-ayanami-tentative-name-pvp-focus-review-analysis-guide-and-best-teams/
Special Interception | Union Raid | Solo Raid
Unfortunately, Rei (Tentative Name) is a weak addition to Solo raid comps. She’s quite a bit behind from being a team 5 spot Nikke in neutral element content assuming complete Nikke roster.
She’s not too impactful in wind-weak raids either, but since we don’t have much Wind DPSs around, she still has a spot in them. The Commander would need a lot of elemental damage rolls on her otherwise using more meta Nikkes would be more fruitful.
Kraken Team/Solo Raid (Wind Weak)
Not the best team for Kraken, but a good starting team as it does not need big investments to function, or need a Pilgrim Nikke. Although be aware that Asuka: Wille and Rei Ayanami do not deal much auto attack damage. Players will have trouble destroying parts unless both units are well invested.
The Commander can slot in a strong sub-dps to help with this issue, or a strong healer to tank through hits.
Rapi: Red hood can be replaced with any CDR, Crown can be replaced with any of the above listed support archetypes. Helm treasure can be replaced with a sub-dps, healer, or burst generator.
Strengths
- Decent in all game modes
- Does not rely on Overloaded gear stats to do her role
- No free long hair skin >:(
Weaknesses
- Fickle spots in all content, replaceable or has substitutes
- Asuka: Wille does not need Rei (Tentative Name) to function, the stronger of the two. Rei will be replaced first in PvE content first despite the “synergy” buffs Rei gives.
- Does not have a strong Niche, her above average DPS in PvE is carrying her rank, otherwise is prone to power creep.
Should you pull?
No, she can be skipped. She does not provide anything new and has substitutes for both PvE and PvP game modes.
Despite having rather good DPS, she’s prone to be power crept as buffing her is rather difficult because of her already high innate buffs of separate multipliers (ATK, ATK dmg) and how Rei deals damage (no current direct multipliers for skill procs, inability to hit core well, low auto attack damage).

For the first time, I disagree with this assessment. I can sense the subjectivity too.
Imagine saying “skippable” about limited collaboration character xD
You are too “true” on her! Before we fully upgrade her, she might actually go from S to A, because we have 2.5 Half Anniversary and the Stellar Blade collaboration coming up soon.
“Assault Rifles have one of the lowest auto attack damage in the game”
Wait, does your nikkes have less of a DMG multiplier on their weapon if not played manually or something?
No, their bullet damage is usually referred as auto-attack damage. Hit rate does improve if the manually controls a Nikke however, which can net some extra core hits.
