Raven Guide & Analysis – Should you Pull?

We can't fix every villain that we see...

Overview

  • An amazing B3 Iron DPS, but is strictly a bossing unit only. Not recommended for use anywhere else.
  • Her DoT’s high base damage gives her constant DPS against any boss once it’s fully stacked up, whether it’s her turn to burst or not.
  • Raven works well against bosses without parts as well because of her DoT dealing significant damage
  • DoT base damage is high enough to warrant use in element neutral raids.
  • Auto-friendly.
  • Her burst gen is acceptable vs bosses thanks to her DoT, but in spite of her awesome attack animation, her ‘radius’ is incredibly small, similar to SBS. This makes her burst gen for a rocket launcher very poor in regular stages.

Newbie/Incomplete Box Section

Raven is a damage over time unit who needs to stack up her DoT effect by attacking an enemy at least 10 times. Once her DoT is fully stacked, subsequent attacks refresh the duration of the max stack DoT.

Her incredible DoT DPS is effectively permanent against a boss thanks to this refresh effect, resulting in consistent damage throughout the whole fight, and when it’s her turn to burst, her DoT DPS just skyrockets. She will certainly be one of the best boss killing nikkes for the foreseeable future.
Note: For this guide, the term ‘DoT’ is used to refer to ‘sustained damage’ for convenience.

Basic Information

  • Skill 1: Shock Wave
  • Skill 2: Blue Blade
  • Burst: Tempest
  • Cooldown: 40s
  • Rarity: SSR
  • Burst: III
  • Weapon: RL
  • Class: Attacker
  • Element: Iron
  • Manufacturer: Abnormal
  • Squad: Airborne Squad
  • Weapon Name: Cryo Blade

Skill 1: Shock Wave

■ Activates when performing Full Charge attacks. Affects 1 enemy unit nearest to the crosshair.
Deals 68.46% of final ATK as sustained damage every 1 sec, stacks up to 10 time(s) and lasts for 5 sec.
■ Activates when entering Full Burst. Affects self.
ATK ▲ 47.52% of caster’s ATK for 10 sec.

The bulk of her damage, and it is no joke. Every fully charged attack will debuff one enemy closest to where she attacked with a DoT. Subsequent attacks will both add a new stack if it affects the same enemy and refresh the duration. Once 10 stacks are reached, attacks will simply refresh the duration and not add any more stacks. At 684.6% final atk per second throughout the majority of the fight, this DPS sets her far above most attacker units against bosses.

Since the attack buff it gives is with every full burst entry as well, instead of just when Raven uses her burst, she will always benefit from the attack buff on every burst cycle. S1 is MUST max for these reasons!

Skill 2: Blue Blade

■ Activates when entering battle. Affects self.
Vital Attack: Damage to Parts ▲ 21.12% for 5 sec.
■ Activates when entering Full Burst. Affects self.
Vital Attack: Damage to Parts ▲ 21.12% for 5 sec.
■ Activates when an ally or self destroys an enemy’s part. Affects self if self is not in A.N. Mode status.
Single Point Attack: Sustained damage ▲ 47.32% for 15 sec.
Removes Vital Attack.

An okay skill. Since DoT can’t deal damage to parts, the Damage to Parts part of the skill only affects her basic attacks when it targets a part and the portions of her burst that hit parts, which is unique to Raven.

The main purpose of this skill is a secondary way of getting a damage over time buff. While it doesn’t stack with the DoT buff from burst, it’s still a good DPS increase vs bosses with parts, especially during times in the fight when it’s not her turn to burst. Since either Raven or her allies can destroy the boss parts to grant her the buff, it’s an easy unconditional way to get more DPS.

The second version of Vital Attack will be active for her own burst, so it’s a nice unconditional damage bonus for her burst against bosses with parts.

Burst: Tempest

■ Affects all enemies (including parts).
Deals 492.3% of final ATK as Burst Skill damage.
■ Affects self.
A.N. Mode:
Effect 1: Removes Single Point Attack.
Effect 2: Sustained damage ▲ 89.44% for 10 sec.

There’s two portions to this burst. First, Raven will deal a hit that affects all enemies, similar to skills like Scarlet, Privaty and Harran. Unique to Raven, each part of any enemy, including bosses, will also take an additional hit.

This will result in bosses with a lot of parts taking a lot of damage at once from her burst. As mentioned, the hits that targets parts will benefit from ‘Damage to Parts’ buffs like from her Vital Attack, Destruction Cube and Dorothy’s S1.

Second, Raven will give herself a massive DoT buff; as of this writing, it’s the highest DoT damage buff in the game. This effect, combined with her high base DoT damage from S1 once it’s fully stacked, will result in incredible on-burst DPS. Raven should never be an off-burst unit due to how much DPS her burst gives her.

Campaign

Even though Raven has very powerful skills, she’s near exclusively a single target DPS nikke. Despite being a rocket launcher and having an awesome attack animation, her ‘splash’ damage is actually quite small, similar to SBS’s attack.

While her DoT does help generate burst meter, enemies in general won’t live long enough once Raven’s DoT is on them, so due to her small blast radius, her burst gen is only average. Also, her slow attack animation makes her quite sluggish at dealing with regular enemies compared to other campaign veterans, especially since her default attack affects so few at once.

Arena

No. Her main method of dealing damage is too slow for PvP and there are nikkes with stronger burst skills available to use, and her burst gen is mediocre outside of bosses.

Special Interception | Union Raid | Solo Raid

This is where Raven shines. She is made to be a boss killer and is excellent at it. Against single enemies, Raven has the opportunity to maintain a permanent, high base damage DoT effect on them throughout the majority of the fight.

Since most bosses have parts to destroy, Raven will also benefit from a more powerful DoT even outside of her own burst once a part is destroyed, as well as have bonus damage with her burst specifically targeting boss parts on top of the boss itself.

Raven will be a top unit for any Iron raids for the foreseeable future. Her constant DPS is just too good for a full fight. Raven will definitely be a great unit to use for ones’ Ultra runs in AI.

Due to her high base DoT damage, Raven will very likely see use in element-neutral bosses as well. This will need more testing, but her burst is capable of destroying mirror container’s glass slippers.

Another nice thing about DoT damage is that it can deal DPS to an invulnerable boss as long as it was on them before they go away, so Raven can keep up the DPS against a boss that  disappears, even if she will have to restack her s1 after the fact.

Teams

Flex B1,Rosanna: Chic Ocean,Raven,Flex B3,Helm (Treasure)

Against bosses without any parts whatsoever, Summer Rosanna can keep Raven’s DoT dealing even greater damage throughout the entire fight, including off-burst. Thanks to her buffing specifically DoT combined with a sizeable damage taken debuff everyone can use. The DoT buff from sRosanna’s burst combines with Raven’s as well.

Outside of the above situation, Raven can honestly be a good flex b3 DPS on a lot of bossing comps thanks to her high general power.

Strengths

  • Powerful DoT that is effectively permanent against bosses
  • Thanks to her DPS method, she isn’t as OL hungry as standard attacker units
  • Strong damage whether it’s her turn to burst or not
  • Can work well in element-neutral raids because her base DPS is so good
  • Has a strong burst against bosses with tons of parts
  • DoT against bosses specifically provides consistent burst gen in spite of her slow attack speed
  • Enemies with DoT already applied on them will take the damage even if they disappear, so Raven can score damage where most DPS can’t

Weaknesses

  • Single target only. Outside of her burst, her wave clear is lacking
  • Slow attack animation, small blast radius and DoT not lasting long on regular enemies makes her burst gen mediocre in regular stages
  • Bosses that disappear for longer than 5 seconds will have all their stacks removed, forcing Raven to re-stack her S1 on them, putting a temporary pause to her big DPS
  • Has no utility, is primarily a DPS bossing unit
  • We can’t fix her, bros…

Should you pull?

Raven is definitely the must get unit from the current Stellar Blade collab banners. She is uniquely powerful against bosses and will maintain relevance in raids for the foreseeable future. It is preferable you don’t use her outside of bosses, though. Definitely get at least 1 copy!

  1. Hi! Thanks for your work. Eve was unexpectedly disappointing, because she is the main character of their second big game and the story of the collaboration was cool. Asuka giggles sarcastically on the sidelines.

P.S. the “Expected Skill Priority” table shows Cinderella

  2. Call me based but i skipped both stellar blade nikkes and i dont care at all at them, abnormal nikkes are a bait. There is more than enough good nikkes from available pool to be happy about, this stuff is only worth it for people that gonna hit core +7 on them and farm top places in solo/union raid, besides that there is no reason to get them, well unless you are newbie account and need anything or you just collect nikkes, for me stellar blade was very mid game anyway so i dont even feel any liking towards them.

  3. Not 10 on Bosses, ez skip. anniversary is soon and the anniversary unit gonna be 10 on bosses, guaranteed and probably even as good as Red Hood Rapi for campaign.

    • Huh? to have the most fun without spending a single penny, and matching whales because I invested in the best units is what’s fun for me.

      • “have the most fun without spending a single penny”, ah, no more questions xD beggar in da house

      • Classic guy shaming others for having fun their own way, no wonder why people tend to despise gacha community.
