Plan An Asia Trip To See Nikke In Real Life

Your best chance to see a Nikke specialty store is in Japan, like this one in Kyoto.

If you’re reading this, you’re likely in the 1 percent of Goddess of Victory: Nikke fans. We mean, you’re reading a blog about this highly niche game!

That’s why we feel uber confident writing this article: how you can experience Nikke in the flesh. Yes, away from your phone screen and in-person.

All you have to do is book a flight to East Asia and stop by South Korea and Japan — the two meccas for anime AND gacha culture. If you’re already in Asia, this won’t be that far. If you’re in the Western hemisphere, then you can play Nikke on airplane Wi-Fi while you spend half a day traveling overseas. The top-reviewed sportsbooks believe airfare will soon fall after a short-term spike (Iran conflict), so don’t plan on breaking your budget for this experience either. It can be done!

Keep reading, and we’ll tell you what those two countries offer for living Nikke out in real life! This is going to be fun so don’t go anywhere!

Tempter Your Expectations First

Let’s start here: Nikke isn’t a big enough game that it’ll be everywhere, ok? This isn’t Pokémon-level fame. Pokemon is a top-5 all-time selling game franchise, per articles on SportsBettingSites.com. So that’s why Pokemon is easy to find in Tokyo. With Nikke, you’ll need some luck and adventure. Sights are not always guaranteed, but the places we list give you the best chance of immersing yourself in the game.

We suggest planning an Asia trip in either spring or fall time. Summer is a skip cause of how scorching hot both island countries become. Like we said, there will be some adventure to find these spots so you don’t want the sun to cook you while you’re searching.

Let’s head to South Korea first. After all, the video game studio that made the game, Shift Up, is based out of Seoul, South Korea, the cultural epicenter of the country and maybe even video games in Asia.

Spots In Seoul To Catch A Glimpse of Nikke

Hongdae is the best part of Seoul to experience anime and gaming culture, especially at night time!

You can begin your Seoul tour with a look at their Shift Up office. Remember when we said to temper your expectations? Well, that starts here cause you can’t tour or enter the office. But… you can peacefully stay outside, take a picture, and say “you were there” — the ground level where Nikke was developed a few years back. The office is in Gangnam, so there’s plenty else to do and see in that part of town anyway.

After that, you’ll want to head to Hongdae. If there’s one area of the city that embraces anime and gaming culture, it’s right here. Not that there will be a Nikke-only store, but there’s a chance it’ll be featured in big anime shops. Start with these two staples — Animate Hongdae and AK Plaza Hongdae.

The question is, what types of things will you find at these shops anyway? Merch is probably number one, and ideally, Asia-exclusive products that you can’t just order online. These shops will also sell an abundance of accessories like keychains, posters, stuffed toys, and so on.

It’s not so much the products that are the selling point of visiting these shops — it’s the experience. You will be immersed in all things gacha with like-minded gamers and enthusiasts. You single? Find a companion here with the same interests as you, whether it’s Nikke or another game. It all starts with a visit to Hongdae.

Spots In Tokyo To Go For Nikke

From Seoul, you want to book a flight to Tokyo, which is only a few short hours away. You’ll want to book a room in or around the Akihabara area — where Japan’s “nerd culture” lives and breathes. The first thing you’ll notice as different between the two countries is how outward Japan’s love of anime and games is, much more so than Korea.

There are simply too many stores to name in Akihabara, but part of the entire experience is just jumping from place to place and getting lost in a sea of characters. Despite Nikke being an imported culture, you’ll find its presence in Japan. The Japanese are known to discriminate, but not in this regard. All games and all anime are welcome, including something as popular as Nikke.

We recommend Akihabara, but at the same time, we know it can be overwhelming — especially if you’re there on a weekend. If you want a more relaxed atmosphere, try going to Ikebukuro instead. There’s a huge anime presence in this part of town, too, just without the crowds and tourist pricing. It’s a great place to save money on your Nikke buys.

Another thing worth doing in Japan is visiting cafes. In the past, Nikke has done collabs with prominent cafes and sold limited-edition drinks and treats. Admittedly, it would take some luck to arrive at the same time this limited-edition sale is happening… but it is possible. Animate Cafe and Pasela Resorts Collaboration Cafe are two likely options for doing such a thing.

Speaking of timing, it might just suit you to visit Tokyo during a big conference. Think Tokyo Game Show or AnimeJapan. Nikke, almost certainly, will have booths at those two events. Not only that, you’re likely to run into other Nikke diehards who’ll be cosplaying as game characters.

That’s probably our biggest takeaway. More than anything else, you just want to be in the middle of the culture. Whether that’s in Seoul or Tokyo, go to the common areas of interest, and you’ll be immersed with like-minded fans. That’s where the fun and memories come from, not buying inanimate things.
