Somewhat Ok skill. Her charge speed self buff isn’t quite high enough to be too useful, and it isn’t a direct 13% charge speed buff due to auto attack delays and etc. more so around 10%.

Although her Charge damage buff is somewhat unique as its the only of its kind. Emilia’s Charge damage buff is Dynamic and accounts for all current buffs present on her (Including Max ammo rolls from gear).

What makes it rather unique is, when factoring Overload gear. as one may think that overloading her with max ammo increase would make a pretty sizable DPS boost because of her skill 1. This is half true. Emilia would still greatly prefer ATK rolls, so spamming her with max ammo/prioritizing multiple max ammo rolls on Emilia is not the play. giving 10% charge damage (250% base) at the highest level max ammo roll. 1-2x Lines is still recommended simply for uptime.

Both Charge speed and charge damage buffs are applied after first full charge shot and each concurrent shots. Briefly manualing Emilia (Spam Shot/Burst gen purposes) will deactivate these buffs, but is easily re-attained after leaving her on auto again.

Skill 2: Great Spirit’s Mace

Max Ammunition Capacity ▲ 3 round(s) for 10 sec.

Main meat of her kit. Her skill 2 basically boosts her damage by 59% and pretty much doubles her burst energy regen when hitting raptures (Environment/Projectiles does not Tick this skill). If multiple parts are hit, this skill will proc accordingly. Ex: If 2 parts + Body is hit, this skill will proc 3 times

This means that no matter how many parts a boss may have, this skill will always have a 59% damage multiplier. Unfortunately this skill is locked behind full charge as well, which is easy to maintain on auto but manual play expression is heavily discouraged due to possible user error.

Her max ammo gets increased, which does synergize with her skill 1. However ammo does not get refilled for the same amount. So it mostly serves as a slight increase to DPS with the occasional uptime increases if reloading at right times. (Mostly applies to Commanders with no Overloaded Max ammo)

Emilia’s Skill 2 is Superior to A2’s by a decent margin. Emilia’s Skill 2 is basically a final damage multiplier of 59% (Including ATK, Charge Damage, Crit rate,Etc). While also providing Additional Ticks, which in turn provides more burst generation.

A2’s Skill proc only ticks once no matter how many parts, and is only based/buffed on only ATK. While A2 does have increased part damage on full charge and a slightly higher Basic ATK multiplier, A2’s slightly lower multipliers / only one tick no matter how many parts AND very unwanted swing delays does make A2 weaker than Emilia when fighting bosses with multiple parts.

Her burst is rather deceptive if the Commander does not fully understand how it works, and would think that the damage output would be similar to Snow white or Maxwell. This is false.

The reason why Snow white and Maxwell have such strong bursts, is because they multiply on very high fixed final attack values on weapon that is switched

Emilia’s weapon has a base ATK modifier of 61.3%. While the weapons used by Maxwell and Snow white is 813% and 499% respectively. To better “visualize”, the math would look like this:

  • Maxwell: 8.3 (813%) x 3.00 (300% Charge) = 24.9 (No self buff)
  • Snow white: 4.99 (499%) x 10.00 (1000% Charge) = 49.9
  • Emilia: 0.613 (61.3%) x (2.5 (base charge) + 13.00 (Burst) + 0.18 (skill 1)) = 9.61 x 1.59 (skill 2) = 15.28

As one can see, she is not very close to the damage of what Maxwell and Snow white can dish out. Not to mention that Emilia also “loses” damage by simply charging up her burst instead of normal attacking (4s~ due to increased charging speed). Her burst has not that much DPS gain compared to just simply not bursting with her. However she does get increased splash radius, which will be useful against bosses with many parts that are rather separated (Nihilister) or in Campaign stages that demand Constant AoE.

  • Do note that Emilia’s S2 isn’t a “swap” weapon mechanic. This means that Her ammo won’t refill after her burst. In fact, a bullet is used.

Campaign

Her Campaign clearing abilities are rather good due to her increased base RL radius + Burst AoE buff and S2. Unfortunately her increased AoE only lasts for 10s, which means that she has more than half downtime for her AoE buff, which can be rather unfortunate in some scenarios.

Emilia is a bit easier to manual spam against environments/Raptures compared to the normal mag reload rocket launchers (Laplace,Power,Vesti,Etc). Making her a pretty neat burst generator, not to the levels of clip rocket launchers (Centi,Anis) but a bit better than Pierce snipers (Alice, Red hood). The Commander won’t have trouble with burst gen when placing her in the Meta teams. Which is basically any team with Tia/Naga or Blanc/Noir.

Fortunately for her, Emilia is a water code, which we barely have any. And the other Nikke in question is also limited (Ludmillia: Winter Owner), Emilia being a decent water AoE DPS does add to value to the roster. Emilia would need at least 2 elemental damage rolls to comfortably run her as main Burst III in rather High CP deficits (30%+). This is with Elemental Advantage and not being carried by a higher tier campaign clearer.

Her obvious weak point is against the campaign target or final wave. Emilia is simply not able to deal any fruitful damage against the target. Emilia would prefer to be paired with a very strong Burst Nikke to compensate for this. Such Nikkes would be Red hood, Alice, Snow white, and Maxwell.

Another Thing to note is that her Burst can be rather “unwanted” to be used in some campaign stages as a 4s charge time is simply too long and can easily result in a team wipe.

Burst Holding

Similar to Maxwell and Snow white, her burst can be “saved” for the final target if needed, giving an extra boost of damage if the player has time left to spare. For more details about this strat, check here

As stated earlier, Emilia does more damage when compared to A2 against bosses with multiple parts. HOWEVER they are rather equalized (Emilia still slight lead) when fighting mob Raptures due to Emilia no longer having the multiple tick advantage from her S2, but still has some manual play expression via Spam shot Burst generation. While A2 still has more increased charge damage, a slightly lower damage tick proc and more uptime on increased AoE radius, A2 is also slightly harder to team build with as she needs constant healing. This usually isn’t an issue with her meta teams, but not everyone has every Nikke. This Makes Emilia simply easier to use.

Don’t think about them as direct competition, but rather, use X depending on what element weak the stage is. Although if the stage is neutral to both, simply use your most raised one. Which will most likely be Emilia down the line as she is more favorable in PvP and against Bosses.

Arena

First, the great: Emilia is the fourth fastest battery in the game. Her RL has increased explosion radius and one of her skills gives her extra damage that generates burst, similar to A2, but unlike A2 she has standard RL speed, meaning she’s around 10% slower than a clip RL, which is huge since clip SGs are about 35% slower than clip RLs. This alone makes her an excellent unit to fit into pretty much any team for speed purposes.

Now onto the “maybe great”: She gets extra charge speed from her S1, and a decent chunk of it. While this would ordinarily be just a positive, in Arena, having higher charge speed than your opponent can lead to whiffs more often, which may prove really troublesome and annoying.

Her burst, on paper, has pretty solid numbers, and with proper buffers she can do insane damage, sometimes even nuking the enemy team outright. That sounds great, and while it requires a good chunk of investment, for Attack teams you can use her to great success, but for Defense there are a few problems with running Emilia as a main DPS, the biggest of them being survivability. She needs to live long enough to shoot her burst, which is a bit over 4 seconds. That makes teambuilding restrictive with her because she isn’t the only DPS competing for survivability. Furthermore, she’s very vulnerable to Rosanna, since she can hit Emilia with her burst before Blanc or Noah can protect her, and due to elemental advantage she’s certain to get KO’d if the Rosanna is built enough.

Counters

Individual shields should also be able to protect you from her burst, albeit options are limited in this area and timing your shield so it doesn’t die can be really tricky. You can also run a slower Noah comp so her burst gets blocked, and her nuke is susceptible to whiffing. (It seems like there’s also a bug where your own Centi’s shield can block your Emilia’s burst, and while it’s unlikely to happen due to very tight timings needed, it’s best to be safe for now). So, while her burst has use cases, she isn’t immune to counters, just like any other Arena unit.

All in all, Emilia is going to be a part of the PvP meta going forward, mainly due to her incredible burst generation and also as a potential strong nuker mainly used in Attack setups.

Counters: Rosanna, slower Noah, individual shields (difficult to pull off), your own Centi (for the time being), rocket whiffs.

Sample team if you really want to run Emilia in Defence as a DPS. Flex slot can be anything extra you may want on the team. If you want to run her as a battery, you can basically fit her into pretty much any team where you’d consider using Centi or Anis.


Special Interception | Union Raid | Solo Raid

She doesn’t really have a spot in current meta Union Raid due to extremely weak parts in that game mode. The only bosses her kit will shine in is on Nihilister or future water weak bosses with multiple parts, which most solo raids do feature this.

Rem will basically be her most realistic pair in Solo Raid, as other Nikkes would want both the duos and would use them better than Emilia can. She should have a spot in Neutral Solo raid occasionally when paired with Rem as team 4/5 solo raid is still having an identity crisis.

Strengths

  • Skill 2 Ticks and procs on each part hit against bosses, making it an effective true 59% Damage multiplier. Making her pretty good against bosses with parts
  • Scales well with ATK, Charge SPD stat lines for overloaded gear
  • Only Good Water Element AoE DPS as of now, which does add variety when tackling element based content, more specifically campaign
  • Strong PvP Contender Via Burst generation and hard hitting AoE burst

Weaknesses

  • Single Target is Damage is not very competitive
  • Limited Manual Play Expression/ Discouraged outside of burst generation
  • Start from Zero.

Notes

She’s a great Nikke all around, with a rather strong point in PvP. However, She’s just a tad short to be considered a top pick or first pick in neutral element stages/bosses as the ones above her are simply too strong in what they do. Not to mention the bossing category is extremely competitive.

Should You Pull?

If you care enough about an Easier time in PvP, A lap enjoyer, and a limited Nikke collector, sure! Steal a copy from Subaru.

With Rem around the corner, which I expect to be much more future proof than Emilia, I’d definitely try picking up Rem first, then try your some luck with Emilia. If no dice, and she doesn’t appeal to you as a waifu/disinterested in PvP, one can skip.

I’m not sure that shields work in pvp the same way they do in pve as in excess damage gets soaked into the shield, rather, if I remember correctly, excess damage still goes to hp so using tia/centi etc won’t give you an edge. On the other hand, since it’s a charged shot, Privaty can counter her hard by stunning her during the charging time

    • True, but she’s also a very fast burst generator. If you build a speed team like 3RL + nuke Emilia it might just be fast enough to fill the gauge and get that shot out, plus cleanup with her increased radius

  3. Well pulled Rem before I ran outa tickets so might try to grab Emilia before the event ends if only to have a another limited run unit not sure though with the summer event coming up and considering I missed the first one I might just horde my gems for the reruns of Anis and the other beachgoing Nikkes.
