Delta: Ninja Thief Analysis – Should You Pull?

Ninja (boob) Flash!!!

Overview

  • B2 Defender 40s MG that mostly support allies
  • Works as either a great taunt tank or competent healer for the team, depending if there’s another Defender unit on the team or not.
  • Being able to heal Crown and synergizing with her allows Maid Mast or Helm (F) to join other teams, increasing the viability of other teams in raid content.
  • Even without Crown, Delta can be a workable off-burst debuffer and taunt tank/healer for other teams.
  • Since her heal scales poorly off ATK, and defenders have low base ATK, she is best ran as the only Defender in campaign if not paired with Crown, as her heal is non-existant at a deficit.
  • Her burst is really middling, so it’s recommended to pair her up with a second B2 20s unit, if you can help it. The most important parts of her kit work off-burst anyway!!
  • Anniversary is around the corner… please don’t be too lured in by her jiggles.

Should You Pull?

No. Even if Delta: Ninja Thief were amazing, I can’t recommend pulling for her right away, and frankly, she isn’t. At least wait for the next anniversary units to appear before you even consider pulling for her, and Delta will most likely not be as high priority as anniversary units, which are generally the strongest permanent units to be added to the game.

While Delta: Ninja Thief has some potential, especially in raid content if you have Crown, she won’t be participating in a solo raid any time soon, as her banner comes in when one just ended. At best, Delta is thought of as a sidegrade as of this writing. She is not a powerful buffer to justify pulling for her over anniversary units, but at the same time, she is still very usable in campaign and raid content.

Perhaps some unit in the future will provide her with a more powerful synergy, but for now, the best thing Delta is able to do is pair up with Crown and free up Maid Mast/Helm (F) to join other teams in raids, or be a taunt tank for campaign, especially at a deficit. While this can be a valid enough reasons to consider pulling for Delta, with Anniversary being the event right after hers, I implore you all to hold off, save and wishlist for her instead.

Newbie/Incomplete Box Section

Delta: Ninja Thief is a B2 Defender 40s Water unit that mostly exists to support the team. She can either be a taunt tank for the team if she is the only Defender unit, or be a healer if there is a second Defender unit on the team. While Delta’s values are relatively low, the nice thing about her kit is that the most important parts of it work off-burst, thankfully.

Even though she could work with a second B2 40s unit, it’s honestly better if you don’t, because Delta’s burst is honestly quite sad when you add it all up, when compared to current the meta B2 buff units.

The main reasons one would want to pull for Delta are if they want to open up team potential in raids by having her join Crown teams, and/or believe her powerful taunt tank power could prove valuable in campaign. As it stands, though, she is purely a sidegrade. Her values, especially with anniversary so close by, do not justify pulling on her banner at the moment.

Pull at your own discretion!!

Holy, three skill cards.

Skill 1: Ninjutsu Acid Bomb

Activates when entering Full Burst. Affects all enemies.
Ninjutsu Acid Bomb: Damage Taken ▲12% for 15 sec.

Activates when using Burst Skill. Affects self.
ATK ▲15.04% for 10 sec.

Activates when using Burst Skill. Affects enemies within attack range nearest to the crosshair.
Ninjutsu Hyper Acid Bomb: Damage Taken ▲8% for 10 sec.

Whenever Delta is in the team and Full Burst is entered, whether or not she bursts, she debuffs all enemies with a long lasting Damage Taken debuff. This is the most important DPS up she can give to allies, so thankfully, it works whether or not she uses her burst.

When she uses Burst, she both increases her own ATK by a small amount, and further increases the Damage Taken debuff to enemies near the crosshair. Her own personal DPS doesn’t improve that much, as she is a Defender unit without much DPS potential in her kit, and it’s more to increase the power of her heal from S2.

While the Damage Taken debuff does increase somewhat, a lot of B2 buffers provide more DPS up for the team overall when they use their own burst over Delta’s, so the opportunity cost of using Delta’s burst to increase the DPS of allies is too great when using units like Crown, Bunny Ade, Grave, Mari, let alone dedicated support duos, where Delta can’t be used.

Skill 2: Ninjutsu Camouflage

Activates at the start of battle.
Effects differ according to squad formation.
Activates only the corresponding effect.

Affects self if there are no other Defender allies in the squad.
Effect 1: Creates a Shield equal to 12.25% of the caster’s final Max HP for 10 sec.
Effect 2: Attract: Taunt all enemies continuously

Affects self if there is another Defender ally in the squad.
Effect 1: Ninjutsu Camouflage: Prevents self from being the target of single-target attacks for 10 sec.
Loses effect when the caster takes damage.
Effect 2: Ninjutsu Injection: Recovers 11.22% of attack damage as HP continuously.

Activates when performing 200 normal attack(s). Affects self while in Attract status.
Creates a Shield equal to 12.25% of the caster’s final Max HP for 10 sec.

Affects self while in Ninjutsu Injection status every 4 sec.
Ninjutsu IFAK lasts for 4 sec.
Function: Accumulates HP recovery during the activation duration, after which all allies are healed for the accumulated amount.
Effect 1: The maximum accumulated amount is equal to 165.28% of the caster’s final ATK.
Effect 2: Once the duration ends, all allies are healed for the accumulated recovery amount.

This is a lot, but is thankfully simpler than it appears. Delta herself is a Defender unit, and S2 will run a check if there is another Defender unit in the squad. This includes Defender units one may not traditionally think of as such due to their DPS capabilities, such as 2B, Cinderella and Maiden: Ice Rose.

If Delta is the only Defender on the team, Delta will permanently taunt all enemies until she dies, and she gives herself a shield based on her final Max HP. Every time Delta fires 200 bullets, which takes an MG ~3.33 seconds at 60 FPS, she will replace the old shield with a new, fully repaired one. There’s no limit to how often she can do this, which makes her a valuable unit to draw aggro with in campaign, and the recommended way of using her without Crown.

If there is another Defender unit on the team, Delta will instead constantly heal herself based on the damage she deals, and will give the team a heal based on her final ATK, every 4 seconds. This effect happens every 4 seconds, even if the max heal amount isn’t reached. Since it scales off final ATK, and Defender units have the lowest base ATK, this will fall off hard in campaign deficit.

However, since it’s a heal that procs very consistently, and Crown’s S2 activates its buff portion upon any healing effect, it makes Delta a valuable ally for Crown teams in Raids, and is currently one of her biggest selling points for raid content.

Providing a permanent Damage Taken debuff against a boss from S1 off-burst, while also activating Crown’s S2 DPS buff to allies for the whole fight allows other teams big damage potential by letting them utilize Maid Mast or HelmF better than if they didn’t have the opportunity to do so.

Burst: Secret Technique: Ninja Overdrive

Cooldown: 40s

Affects all allies.
Distributed Damage ▲ 20% for 10 sec.
ATK ▲ 15% of caster ATK for 10 sec.

Affects all enemies.
Deals 170% of final ATK as distributed damage.

Affects self while in Attract status.
Next shield’s HP ▲ 20.13% for 10 sec.

Affects self while in Ninjutsu Infection status.
Maximum accumulation of Ninjutsu IFAK ▲20.13% for 10 sec.

When Delta uses her Burst, she buffs her allies with a Distributed Damage buff, and a very small caster ATK buff, made even smaller when you realize it scales off a Defender’s base ATK. She also deals a pathetic 170% of final ATK as Distributed Damage, which is so small, I was curious if it was a typo, since an MG constantly does this damage every half a second at 60 FPS.

Even if you combine the S1 buffs that only activate when she uses her own Burst, the problem is that using Delta’s burst compared to using most other meta B2’s burst is too great of an opportunity cost, since they provide stronger buffs to the team as a whole, especially since a large portion of the DPS up for allies that Delta provides happens whether she uses burst or not.

The Distributed Damage buff that Delta gives when she uses her burst is also smaller than other Distributed Damage buffers, and it also doesn’t help Delta that she has a 40s cooldown on her burst, making her unusable on her own.

The biggest thing that Delta gains when she uses her own burst is improving either of the effects of her S2. However, outside of potential campaign uses (i.e. to help her tank more with her shield under greater aggro), there should be little reason at the moment to utilize Delta’s burst, especially in raid.

Campaign

Ninja Delta has great potential as an aggro unit in campaign for teams that lack Crown. As she will constantly draw aggro to herself until she dies when she is the only Defender in the team, and she will give herself a shield very consistently, Delta can tank a lot of damage. She won’t suffer from dying as much compared to Tia due to how often she will give herself a shield.

Unlike with Tia as well, in the context of campaign, if Delta dies, since she will be used off-burst, her eventual death is very inconsequential, as the rest of the team will only lose a mild, constant Damage Taken debuff to enemies.

Something to note is that Damage Taken debuffs are less valuable in Campaign compared to bossing content, because the majority of debuffs don’t automatically apply to new waves of enemies until the next cast of the skill that provides the Damage Taken debuff. This reduces the value of Delta as a DPS buffer, but not as an aggro tank in Campaign content.

Due to how much her heal will fall off in campaign deficit compared to her shield, it is recommended to run Delta as the only Defender in the team if it can be helped. Outside of using her with Crown, her heal is quite small, and its biggest impact only comes through when either healing Crown to proc her S2. Its value will shrink FAST in campaign, as power deficits lower the stats of a Nikke.

Arena

It will have to be tested if Delta’s permanent aggro can come in handy, but her Arena potential seems low at the moment. The issue is that since Arena is played at 30 FPS without the fire rate fix, she gets her shield in ~6.66 seconds instead, shields are weaker in PvP content, and MG units are notorious for feeding burst meter to enemies.

Special Interception | Union Raid | Solo Raid

Delta has good potential in Raid and bossing content. While her main selling point within them is being able to pair up with Crown, she can work with other solo B2 buffers like Grave and Bunny Ade properly as well. The damage taken debuff she provides stacks up nicely with their buffs, and tanking all the single target damage a boss can have in these scenarios can be helpful as well.

Something to note is that most raid bosses do have a lot of multi-target moves to worry about, which Delta can’t help against, but as long as she is the only Defender on a raid team, all the single target moves are no problem for the rest of the team.

However, of course, her main power in raid comes from the potential to use her with Crown. Since she provides a heal to Crown (as Crown is a Defender unit, Delta will heal with her S2), she will activate Crown’s S2 constantly, making it effectively permanent. Crown’s buffs and Delta’s S1 debuff don’t have any dilution, unlike Helm’s, and aren’t circumstantially good, unlike Naga’s.

While the DPS will be worse than how it is with Maid Mast, this can allow Maid Mast to provide a DPS up to another team, as the gains from her joining another team could be higher. The point is, having Delta opens up more options for team compositions.

Strengths

  • Powerful taunt tank for campaign when set as the solo Defender, with constant self-shielding.
  • Able to proc Crown’s S2, making her a partner for Crown in raids, freeing up HelmF and Maid Mast to join other teams if needed.
  • Mostly functions off-burst, works excellent with any solo B2, Crown being the notable standout.
  • Low skill investment unit that works well at a high level.
  • Sacrificial unit whose death in normal maps barely punishes your team, when set as the solo Defender.
  • ZAMN! So stacked…

Weaknesses

  • Pathetic burst, don’t use it if you can help it.
  • 40s B2 means she can’t be used by herself, another B2 is required.
  • Low DPS potential, not sure why they tried to give her DPS values on burst, so don’t bother.
  • Low buff and debuff values, her main power comes from synergizing with other, better buffers as an off-burst unit.
  • The heal scaling off of ATK means its value will fall off really fast in campaign.
  • Damage Taken is inherently weak in normal campaign maps, as debuffs don’t apply to the new wave of enemies until the next cast.

Doll Priority

While her doll priority is normally low, as she is a Defender that doesn’t have DPS potential, with buffs that don’t scale, the situation is flipped if you’re seriously using Delta for Campaign. As a unit that permanently taunts all enemies until death when set as the only Defender, she will greatly appreciate the Damage Taken reduction and Cover HP increases that only SR doll provides.

Depending on your plans with Delta, Doll Priority should be either Low to Medium-High.

S1 > S2Skill 1 is where a lot of her value comes from as a unit. Damage Taken debuff that activates whether she uses Burst or not is very nice.

Skill 2 improves her self-durability/heal for the team. If using her in a serious campaign setting, you can level it up more for stronger shields.

You should never use her Burst for the foreseeable future. Its gains and values are just so low. The only reason Recommended is set to 4 is because the cost of leveling it to 4 is inconsequential.

  1. I dont get the rating.
You say she isnt amazing but mostly exists to support a single team but the give her a S in both bossing and campaign? That means she’s the same Tier and D: killer Wife, Cinderella, Scarlet etc. Makes no sense.
Sounds more like a B tier unit to me
