Chisato Nishikigi Analysis – Should You Pull?

Chisato at your service!

Overview

  • B3 SMG Iron Attacker unit with a big focus on True Damage.
  • Best True Damage DPS, though that on its own doesn’t mean she’s great.
  • Has higher than average Core Damage bonus, prefers hitting units with a core.
  • Mandatory to have Firing Adjust Option on when using her, the DPS loss is noticeable.
  • Frequency of True Damage gives her some use in Campaign Deficit, especially S2.

Should You Pull?

While she is an above average Iron DPS, you may also not necessarily need her. Iron isn’t exactly lacking in Iron DPS, and while she’s definitely stronger than options such as Laplace (Treasure), Julia (Treasure), Red Hood or even Milk: Blooming Bunny, you may not necessarily need Chisato to reach the percentage threshold you want in Solo Raid. If you want to reach higher percentage tiers, though, she is definitely a must get.

Her DPS, when built optimally, can match units like EVE, Raven or Milk: Blooming Bunny in Shooting Range, which is a great sign for her DPS, since the boss in Shooting Range has negligible defense, meaning her True Damage doesn’t really come through, and even then, it can still approach the best Iron DPS units in the game currently, including Rapi: Red Hood’s damage.

It should be noted, however, that she is a Limited Unit. Once the Lycoris Recoil collab ends, there’s no way to know if she’ll ever come back. It would be best to secure at least one copy for the future. She can do a good enough job at just 1 copy, and she’ll be a staple of Iron raids for the foreseeable future.

Newbie/Incomplete Box Section

Chisato is a B3 SMG Iron Attacker unit that buffs herself a ton and mostly deals True Damage, especially with Burst active. True Damage is at its most effective in campaign content, where having a power deficit results in stat deductions, potentially reducing non-true damage to 0 if the deficit is high enough.

Other than that, she has above average DPS, especially for an SMG, making her a strong Iron DPS unit in raid and bossing content. Since she self-buffs her ATK stat constantly, she doesn’t really need ATK buffers, and doesn’t need as many OLs as other DPS units.

If you are using her, you must absolutely have the Min Firing Adjustment Option enabled, explained further below.

Basic Information

  • Skill 1: Extrasensory
  • Skill 2: AP Rounds
  • Burst: Emergency Charge
  • Cooldown: 40s
  • Rarity: SSR
  • Burst: III
  • Weapon: SMG
  • Class: Attacker
  • Element: Iron
  • Manufacturer: Abnormal
  • Squad: Café LycoReco
  • Weapon Name: Suppressive Submachine Gun

Normal Attack Information

Her SMG is not that different from the standard SMG, with a 120 bullet magazine size and a 1s reload time. However, it’s subtly a lot stronger than it appears. Its base damage of 10.12% puts it on the upper echelon of SMG normal attack DPS.

SMG base damage tends to vary between 8 – 10% for the majority of single SMGs, so it being just above 10% puts her above other SMG units in terms of normal attack DPS.

On top of that, she has default core damage of 250%, instead of the usual 200%, giving her stronger core hits against enemies with a core. Combined with the Hit Rate obtained from S1, and one more Hit Rate OL, Chisato’s basic attacks can seriously hurt against almost every normal enemy in the game and the majority of bosses.

Skill 1: Extrasensory

Activates at the start of battle. Affects self.
Charges Extrasensory to 100% continuously, up to 100%. This effect cannot be dispelled.
Activates while in Extrasensory status. Affects self.
Effect changes according to the charge level of Extrasensory. Previous effects trigger repeatedly.
Only when at 100%. Dodging Bullets: Invulnerable for 2 sec.
Only when above 70%: ATK ▲53.69% continously. This effect cannot be dispelled.
Only when above 55%: True Damage ▲ 48.62% continuously. This effect cannot be dispelled.
Only when above 25%: Hit Rate ▲ 22.37% continuously. This effect cannot be dispelled.

Affects self every 2 sec.
Extrasensory ▼ 1%

As soon as combat begins, Chisato charges up her Extrasensory meter to max. As long as it maintains a certain threhsold, she will give herself various buffs. The invulnerability at the start of combat has limited use in PvE, but it happening with a Burst usage can come in handy, as enemies are usually programmed to target Nikkes with the highest ATK stat, allowing Chisato to not care about potential damage taken within those 2 seconds.

Aside from that, Chisato gives herself a huge amount of ATK, True Damage and Hit Rate. Both ATK and True Damage will matter a lot for her S2 and DPS mid-Burst, and the Hit Rate will matter for her Core Damage bonus vs enemies with Core, making all of these stats desirable for Chisato.

Due to how slow the Extrasensory meter drains, at 1% every 2 seconds, all the buffs aside from the Invulnerability will be effectively permanent. At 1% every 2 seconds, it takes an entire minute (60 seconds) to just lose the ATK buff; in normal gameplay, it’s not a concern that Chisato will ever lose any of the buffs, which gives her high power throughout the entire fight.

Skill 2: AP Rounds

Activates when using Burst Skill. Affects self.
Normal attacks deal True Damage for 10 sec.

Activates after landing 48 normal attacks.
Affects the target.
Deals 472.18% of final ATK as true damage.

If Chisato uses her Burst, her normal attacks deal True Damage for the entirety of Burst time, allowing them to ignore the DEF stat of enemies. While this has limited use in raids, due to there being no stat deficit to suffer under, there are certain bosses within raids that give themselves above average DEF. Chisato is very good against bosses like that; it should be noted that in standard situations, it usually equates to about a 20% ATK buff.

The secondary S2 effect, the true damage activation every 48 shots, is where a large portion of her damage comes from. Every 2 seconds with Min Firing Adjustment enabled, Chisato will hit an enemy with a hard hitting true damage activation. Thanks to its frequency, big magazine size and fast reload, Chisato can maintain consistent DPS against single targets.

Due to the fact that SMGs fire 4 bullets fewer per second without the Min Firing Rounds Adjustment Option enabled, it is absolutely necessary for the option to be toggled on. The option can be found under Settings > Battle > Convenience, at the very bottom of the menu.

Due to game engine limitations, in spite of SMG firing rate being set to 24/s in the code, the game engine only allows an SMG bullet to fire every 3 frames at 60 FPS, and every 2 frames at 30 FPS with no in-between values, resulting in an actual firing rate of 20/s and 15/s, respectively. The option being enabled forces the game to fire SMGs at the programmed rate by firing an extra bullet at certain intervals, allowing it to catch up.

Min Firing Rounds Adjustment: ON
Firing Rate: 24/s
S2 Frequency: Every 2s

Min Firing Rounds Adjustment: OFF
Firing Rate: 20/s
S2 Frequency: Every 2.4s (20% fewer activations)

No changes in anything besides the toggle. The difference would be greater if Chisato had more ammo lines to make use of.

Burst: Emergency Charge

Cooldown: 40 seconds.

Affects self.
Charges Extrasensory to 100%
ATK ▲ 73.16% for 10 sec.

A very simple skill. Chisato will give herself a massive ATK buff and maximize her Extrasensory meter, allowing her to benefit from the Invulnerability buff for 2 seconds, as well as maintain her meter throughout the fight.

It should be noted that the ATK buff from Extrasensory is additive with the ATK buff from Burst, which makes ATK buffers less effective for Chisato, as she already gives herself so much ATK. More true damage or other auxiliary buffs are better for her, and since ATK buffs are so uncommon from S2 units, where most of the buffs come from in meta teams, this allows Chisato to work with so many buffers.

Campaign

Chisato is way too single target in campaign. She is an SMG with an activation that only affects one target at a time. However, the fact that she has some of the best single target true damage in the game with Burst Active gives her usability vs bosses at a campaign deficit. Her S2 combines with her True Damage dealt from Burst to be one of the most significant damage dealers to bosses and individual targets when the deficit is incredibly high, and everyone’s stats have dropped drastically.

Unlike other true damage DPS units, such as Ein, Ada or Vest: Tactical Upgrade, Chisato actually does deal true damage with her basic attacks during Burst Time after using Burst. It combines with her proc to absolutely get rid of small targets while demolishing a boss at the end of the wave. The invulnerability she gives herself when using Burst also gives her a degree of survivability others don’t have, even if just for 2 seconds. Since the majority of enemies in campaign have a core, Chisato has an inherent advantage in campaign when hitting enemies with a core.

Which one to choose would really depend on what is the priority in a campaign map; crowds of high priority enemies, or one, individual high damage enemy or Boss. The former would be the best time to use Ein, Vesti: Tactical Upgrade and/or Ada, whereas a boss or a low number of high priority targets to get rid of would definitely want Chisato taking over.

Arena

As a single target SMG with poor burst gen, she won’t be that good in Arena, most likely. While her proc is strong, since Arena plays at 30 FPS without the Min Firing Rounds Adjustment option active, SMGs fire at 15/s, slowing down her proc rate to occuring once every 3.2 seconds, well within a lot of Burst Timings in PvP.

But, let’s go nuts. She has 2 seconds of invulnerability at the start of combat, and if she is killed, and subsequently revived, she ‘starts’ combat again, allowing her to regain 100% meter and get another 2 seconds of invulnerability per revive she is affected by. This doesn’t exactly make her viable, it’s just really funny.

Special Interception | Union Raid | Solo Raid

Where Chisato will do her best. Since she is so single target, it makes sense that she’ll perform well against bosses in particular, especially those that have higher than average DEF values, so that she can take advantage of True Damage. It should be noted that unlike in campaign, there is no stat penalty to worry about in raids, meaning the value of true damage is reduced.

In spite of this, Chisato is still one of the higher Iron DPS units in the game. Thanks to all the self-buffing, constant DPS and ability to work with a lot of buffers, she is going to be a priority in Iron-weak Solo Raids for certain, for the foreseeable future. Even though the competition for Iron DPS is fierce, Chisato will most likely take the place of weaker Iron DPS units, since her DPS is above average even in settings where True Damage doesn’t exactly shine.

Ultra in Anomaly Intercept has one of the highest base DEF in the game, and it only goes up as one progresses through the stages of the boss. Chisato will on average be one of the best Iron DPS units to use against Ultra, even though she lacks Pierce, thanks to her True Damage completely ignoring Ultra’s DEF stat. One should still bring a unit with Pierce or have Rapi: Red Hood’s projectiles be able to get rid of the poison sacs in order to proceed with the fight normally.

Strengths

  • Very good gun. An SMG with innate hit rate, lots of ATK, 1s reload and higher than average base damage and core damage gives her great normal attacks.
  • Highest True Damage DPS potential in the game currently.
  • Incredible self-buffing gives her a degree of independence. Can work well with a lot of buffers, as long as they aren’t buffing ATK.
  • Has potential in campaign as a True Damage dealer.

Weaknesses

  • Way too single target, which hampers her potential in campaign.
  • True Damage isn’t as effective in content that lacks stat penalties.
  • Needs Hit Rate OLs to make her Core Damage more effective against more enemies.

Recommended Cubes

bastion cube,resilience cube

Either cube works best for her. Bastion cube supports the high magazine size of SMGs, while Resilience supports the very short reload time.
Resilience has the advantage if Chisato is paired up with a unit that provides reload speed.

Doll Priority

Since a large portion of Chisato’s DPS comes from normal attacks, especially when Burst is Active, Chisato has a very high Doll priority, if you are planning on using her. She is one of its best users, since the SMG Doll’s DPS buff is to increase the damage of normal attacks. This boosts the damage her above average SMG deals, and makes the core hits more impactful. It also affects the bullet damage when Burst is active and dealing True Damage.

S1 < S2Skill 1 is where a lot of her self-buff power comes from. It is acceptable to leave it as 7, since the slightly lower True Damage self-buff can be compensated with the B2 unit being used.

Skill 2 is where her True Damage activation is at. More levels within makes a big difference as the fight progresses.

Burst is just a simple massive ATK stat buff. The ATK buff within Burst scales a bit better than the ATK buff on S1 so it has a slightly higher priority. It can be kept at 7 to save on resources.

Increase Element Damage Dealt★★★★★4xWanted for Union Raids and Solo Raid content.
Increase Hit Rate★★★☆☆1 – 2xSince she has a higher than average innate core damage bonus and already has a Hit Rate buff from S1, it’s recommended to try to go for one more at most to ensure she can hit the core of more enemies.
Since more bosses nowadays are starting to have conditional cores or even no cores, if you are planning to use her strictly in raid content and not in campaign, you can skip out on Hit Rate OLs.
Increase Max Ammunition Capacity★★★★☆1 – 2xMore ammo is always nice; however, thanks to her fast reload speed, it’s not exactly a huge DPS loss if she lacks ammo lines, especially since allies can potentially make up for it.
Increase ATK★★★★☆2 – 3xWhile it is a good DPS boost, the fact is, Chisato effectively has a permanent ATK buff equal to 3 – 4 black ATK OLs, reducing the effectiveness of more ATK OLs.

Increase Charge Speed☆☆☆☆☆0x
Increase Critical Rate★★★★☆2 – 3xThanks to how much ATK she gives herself all the time, if you end up with critical rate, it’s actually quite nice to keep.
Increase Critical Damage★★☆☆☆1 – 2xWhile this naturally does make critical damage a good option too, critical damage falls off in setups where a higher crit rate can’t be secured, which is why critical rate has the priority.
