FPS interaction (Intro)

Like all other MG, Modernia suffers from RoF being tied to FPS. When FPS is below 35, Modernia is not able to stack her skill 1. FPS must be at or above 36 in order for Modernia to be able to stack her skill 1. The combination of reduced fire rate and stack loss greatly impacts her DPS capabilities when playing at low FPS.

Skill 1: High-Speed Evolution

Activates when normal attack hits. Affects the target(s).
Deals 3.05% of ATK as additional damage.

Activates when normal attack hits 200 time(s). Affects self.

First effect gives Modernia a free damage multiplier, boosting her effective damage to per shot to 10.76% of final ATK. Skill proc also contributes to burst generation, which is why Modernia has the twice the burst generation compared to other Machine Gun units. However it’s not enough to make a significant difference in PvP.

Second effect gives her a permanent critical damage boost, she will gain the first stack after ~4s (due to MG windup time) and an additional stack every 3.33s, taking a total of 17s (on 60 FPS) to reach max stacks.

The ammo capacity reduction is meant to restraint her by forcing her reload more often, possibly causing her to lose buff stacks. Do note you have a substantially higher chance of dropping buff stacks on 30 FPS because of reduced fire rate coupled with more frequent reloads from this effect causing you to miss the 200 shots requirement. However the effect can be mitigated with Increase Max Ammo attributes from OL gear as the ammo reduction is based on default ammo (300). At max debuff stacks, Modernia will only lose 77 ammo regardless of how many Ammo OL lines she has.

Skill 2: Giant Leap

Affects all allies. Activates when entering Full Burst.
Hit Rate ▲ 8.56% for 15 sec.

Affects self. Activates when normal attack hits 200 time(s) during increasing Hit Rate status.
ATK ▲ 29.38% for 10 sec.

Hit rate is irrelevant on Machine Gun because they have a tiny spread which guarantees consistent core hit regardless of enemy distance. It is simply an enabler for a the skill’s second effect.

Second effect gives her a permanent ATK boost after 3.33s of constant firing in the first burst and maintained as long as Modernia is attacking an enemy. This effect can be interrupted due to unfortunate timing on reloads and reduced ammo capacity debuff from her S1. However this can be once again mitigated with Max Ammo OL as previously mentioned.

Increase Hit Rate OL/Assault Cube also counts as an activator for Modernia’s ATK buff, instead of waiting for the first burst to get her buff, it’ll be present after ~4s of battle, giving Modernia’s a small overall damage boost.

Burst Skill: New World

Affects all allies.
Full Burst Time ▲ 5 sec.

Affects self. Grants unlimited ammunition for 15 sec.
Destroy Mode: Extending the line of sight and auto-aim at all enemies within fire range.
Stage target will be recognized as a single enemy regardless of its interruption parts.
Deals 2.24% of ATK as damage for 15 sec.

Increase Full Burst is a rare effect only present on D and Modernia, it simply extends your full burst timer to 15s instead of the default 10. Usually this is a damage nerf for the team as most buffs last 10s. Not being able to refresh buffs takes a toll on team DPS despite the full burst damage multiplier (1.5x).

During her burst, Modernia constantly fires at the center of her reticle and can spread up to multiple targets within her enlarged attack reticle, dealing 2.24% of final ATK per shot to each target. Shots during her burst still counts as normal attacks and get the damage bonus from S1 as well as quickly stacking up her buffs. She is also given unlimited ammo during this period (brrr). Boss parts and Interruption circles (red circles) don’t count as extra targets. This ability is very helpful in early campaign as it allows for quick wave clearing but falls off in later stages of the game as player will have stat penalties most of the time (due to CP deficits). Raptures become tanky enough where Modernia is not able to Destroy raptures before they’re able to fire unless using specialized teams. After Modernia’s burst is finished, her ammo gets refilled.

Note: Despite the VFX showing curved bullet paths, they just travel straight and don’t curve past shield or objects obstructing the target

In boss fights, bursting with Modernia is not recommended as there will be only 1 target most of the time and Modernia deals 7.53% ATK per hit against a single target, much lower than the 10.76% ATK per hit that she can do without burst.

Campaign

The goal when team building with Modernia is to maximize her DPS potential through minimizing her downtime (reload) by increasing ammo capacity or reducing reload time. This mean support with ammo related abilities like Liter and Noir are great pairs with Modernia

Poverty Team Comp

Liter can be replaced with Dorothy/Volume, units with Cooldown reduction ability
Centi can be substituted with Anis for quick burst generation
A budget team comp consisting of 2 free units, great for early campaign but falls off quickly later on as stats penalty makes these unit do virtually no damage.

Bunny Team

Liter S1 increases Max Ammo capacity + Noir S2 partial reloads helps cut down on Modernia’s reload significantly.

School Girls (Best in Slot Team)

Tia,Liter,Modernia,Attacker,Naga
Great for mid-late campaign as the boosted core damage from Naga makes Modernia burst viable under CP deficit scenarios. This comp is more geared towards campaign stages from Chapter 19 onwards as many enemies and projectiles have have hit count HP instead of usual HP, they are weak to MG units like Modernia.

This team is usually used in lowest CP clears under high CP deficits

Fast Reload Team (Early Game)

Liter,Admi,Modernia,Attacker,Privaty

Team that heavily Minimizes the reload time of Modernia. If reload time is fast enough, Modernia can partially skip wind up time. This team gets phased out at late game as the Commander will have access to late game gear that gives Modernia Max ammo, meaning less reloads are needed and more offensive buffs are needed (ATK UP, Damage taken debuffs, etc). Resilience Cube is recommended to equipped on Modernia when using this team.

Liter can be replaced by your preferred CDR Nikke


Arena

Despite having twice the burst gen of an usual MG, Modernia’s burst gen is still extremely low (slower than average SR units). She is easily countered by Emma S1 which heals the entire enemy team if Modernia ever attacks her. Scarlet S2 will also melt Modernia instantly. Her low energy burst gen and lack of strong burst DPS makes her rather average in PvP. However she is viable in early game arena in where Commanders don’t know how to properly form proper PvP teams yet due to her rather strong consistent damage.


Special Interception | Union Raid | Solo Raid

In bossing scenarios, you should never burst with Modernia as it a DPS loss, this means we are forced into 1-1-3 comps when building teams with Modernia, ruling out Tiga pair as they force you into a 1-2-2 comp.

Bunny Team

The ideal support for Modernia are Liter + Bunnies as they have ammo related abilities which mitigate Modernia’s biggest downside, frequent reloads due to low ammo capacity. You can replace Liter with Volume if she is needed in another team and it won’t be detrimental to Modernia’s performance. This comp allows Modernia to reload only once in a 3 minute fight if she has ~280% Increase Ammo Cap total from OL and equipping Bastion Lv7, Liter S1 and Noir S2 at Lv10. This combo has been prevalent for the past Union/Solo raids and became a staple comp dealing substantial damage and easy to operate.

Novel Team

A passable substitute if you’re missing the bunnies. Helm can be replaced with Quiry.

CDR-less Team/Fast Reload(Early Interception EX)

Pepper,Admi,Attacker,Privaty,Modernia

Pepper wants to be Manualed her as her healing skyrockets under manual play. Used if teams above are not available. Modernia Does not wants to burst as it reduces her Single target Potential.

Note: Tia/Naga teams are usually discouraged to pair with Modernia as Modernia will be forced to burst, however still can be a viable option if the Commander simply does not have any other DPS’s available.

Recommended Harmony Cubes

Bastion pairs exceptionally well with Modernia, it is highly recommended to use Bastion with her at all times. Unless using her in reload speed comps, in where Resilience would be better.

However early on Wingman is an viable alternative.
